Summary
After the countless interactions with real life monsters and other dimensions, it’s hard to question things as small as a weird noise coming from the attic or an orb in a photograph without assuming it's part of all of that trauma he had experienced due to the Upside Down. But that part of his life is long over, there is no reason to overreact, all of it is over. He is safe. So when he starts getting caught up on small things, he has to tell himself that he doesn’t need to worry about it, ignore it and push it down far, far away from his consciousness. Because after dealing with the Upside Down, he doesn’t want to get himself stuck in any more save the world situations. Mike Wheeler is no longer that protector he once was. No longer the paladin that Will Byers admired for so many years. All of that trauma he experienced comes rushing back when he really starts to notice things in his new house are not quite right. Maybe he should be questioning the noises in the attic and the orbs that seem to show up in all of his photographs he has taken since he moved into this strange house. Maybe he has to reach out to his old party for help, or maybe he can ignore it for just a while longer…

Summary
When Will needs to get his thoughts out of his head, he writes a letter he never intends to send. He addresses it to Mike, and tells him everything.
Feeling lighter than he has in weeks and buoyed by the adrenaline of writing it all out, Will acts on an impulse and ends the letter with, "If you’d be willing to give me a chance, I’d be really happy to date you. If you’re open to trying it, please meet me in Castle Byers this Saturday at 2:00pm. I’m not asking for any promises, I’m not asking for forever or anything like that; all I’m asking is that you give me a chance. Come if you want; if not, I completely understand, no hard feelings, and I’ll never, ever mention this again."
He forgets all about the letter, and the distinctive red envelope he stowed it in, until he turns around to find it missing. Now, Will has to think of some way to stop Mike from reading that letter - or should he wait at Castle Byers on Saturday at 2:00pm and pray for a miracle?

Summary
Will loved ordinary things, an uneventful existence was something he craved. Sadly, when Mike Wheeler walks into his life, Will’s easy going path snaps right in half. A passion he could never imagine overtaking his whole being.
It was too bad their friend groups hated each other and his sister had a huge crush on the musician. Off limits.

“Mike... What are you doing here? Are you okay?”
Mike’s lips rested against Will’s head, brushing against his hair gently. His arms clung to Will’s sides as he started to tremble. The way his hands felt against Will’s body felt foreign after so long apart. It was so odd to think they hadn’t seen each other in over a year.
“It’s– It’s my dad. He’s dead, Will. He’s gone.”
“I’m so sorry,” Will said as they pulled apart slightly, glancing up to study Mike’s face. “What happened?”
“It was a heart attack. I just thought I should tell you in person, you know. Since I’m not sure you’d get a letter if I sent it, anyway. Plus, I just wanted to see your face again. It’s been so long. Too long.”

Or when Mike goes to visit Will in New York after the death of his father, longing to see his best friend after over a year apart, and still struggling with persisting grief. While Mike stayed in Hawkins after graduation, Will embarked on a new life, in a new state, with new people to surround him. Over the course of Mike's stay, many truths come to light, and emotions that had been stowed away burst to the surface in a messy and passionate series of events.
