Riku stopped reading. Yushi stirred, blinking sleepily.
Jaehee continued, staring at the ceiling. "Not because I was jealous. Not really. I mean, I was, obviously. But it was because it was like... a closed loop. A perfect circle. And I was always outside it. Just... watching."
The words hung in the quiet room, an accusation from a past version of himself.
"We never meant to," Riku said, his voice barely a whisper, the book forgotten in his lap.
"I know," Jaehee sighed. "That's why it hurt so much."

Jaehee is trapped in a body that is betraying him. In the quiet space left by distance and neglect, he overhears a change that may be the final nail in the coffin of his life.
