Will knew he shouldn't be out, he shouldn't even be speaking to this boy but—something had him pulling his head back up to face mike’s without even really meaning to- and really what objections could he possibly have when mikes face had looked like that? Like if he even let Will go for a second, he might disappear. Like he was looking at someone who mattered, like Will was worth something.
just like that will couldn't turn away if he wanted to. Filled with relief and sorrow and Will couldn't help but notice the bone deep loneliness and isolation seemed to disappear as he looked into the depth of mikes pleading eyes.
What kind of person could possibly turn away from that?when mike wheeler, at 9 years old had asked to be will's bestfriend, who was he to refuse?

Summary
Will liked living at the Burrow. He liked going on quests with his friends, he liked saving the world bit by bit on a daily basis. He liked honing his magic, learning a new spell or perfecting one he already knew. He liked drawing in his sketchpad, though a lot of those drawings end up being a certain best friend he might be harboring feelings for. He liked his sister and his brother, even if they could get on his nerves.
