"To the fawning and delighted praise of the adults, Aemond went above and beyond as a young, single father to his three boys. He attended every school event, every rally, practice and play, donated generously to the trust, volunteered his time for charity events, sat on the school’s board and Parent Teacher Association. He was a ubiquitous spectre on their campus, haunting Jace’s footsteps. His aforementioned eye trained on him, even in this insignificant little venture that he was undertaking to humour Baela and gain her some small advantage in her pursuit for a spot on the football team.
Jace bristled nonetheless. He had never begrudged Aemond’s presence; he cherished every morsel of his attention, bloomed under his tender affections. They had a relationship on a higher frequency and dimension than common people; few could understand and he cared not to share it with outsiders. But he had no desire to be watched by him today, of all days. Especially not after this morning."
