They weren’t children anymore, but they pretended that their world didn’t extend past Link’s house, and then Tarrey Town when they ran out of supplies. They’d play pretend that those of the town didn’t recognize the princess as The Princess, didn’t acknowledge the worried looks of the townspeople, refused to think about how they’d soon want and expect their monarch back to restore order and solve their problems as Zelda had so earnestly done before. They pretended they didn’t see children point at her, full of innocent curiosity, and didn’t acknowledge when their parents would pull them away chastising the child for being rude.
