Frank groans.
“Yeah, yes, I’m living with her,” he says and Robby gets that crazy look in his eyes so Frank barrels on, “It’s not like that. Robby it’s not,” and Robby doesn’t look like he believes him one bit. “I’m living in her spare room and I pay her rent. We’re roommates. That’s not a crime.”

Summary
It takes three weeks for him to cross the line he set for himself when he drove her home after that Fourth of July shift and ask her if he can stay the night at her place.

But he forgets all of that after just one night.
And then it becomes a habit.

Summary
Her thoughts are as follows: If Subject A (Mel) shows signs of discomfort, Subject B (Frank) will try to help, and vice versa. Therefore, if A is in need of a replacement for an article of clothing, B will do his best to provide A with one.
It’s shaky logic, all things considered, but it’s enough.
All that’s left is for Mel to put her hypothesis to the test.
Or: Mel can’t stop stealing Frank’s clothes. It’s becoming quite the problem.
