“—Eddie’s been listening to the same playlist since he was born, I doubt he’d know any of these,” Buck laughs, and Eddie’s head snaps up, brows in an offended furrow.
“Hey, that’s not true,” Eddie says, feeling oddly defensive about a subject he wasn’t aware that he had strong feelings about.
“You’re telling me you know who Sabrina Carpenter is?” Buck asks, disbelieving and unbearably sarcastic.
“I listen to the radio, Buck,” Eddie says, rolling his eyes. Buck just raises an eyebrow and Eddie feels a little offended again. “Yes, I know who Sabrina Carpenter is.”

Summary
Leaning toward the mirror, [Buck] shoots himself a wide, sleepy smile just as the bathroom door creaks open. He flinches back, one hand gripping the edge of the sink to keep himself upright while the other flies up to catch the door.
It’s just Eddie, and Buck opens his mouth to say hey, it’s ok, go back to bed, but the words die on his tongue as he spots the fear in Eddie’s eyes. It’s quick, there and gone before Buck can really react, replaced by relief that Buck barely registers before Eddie is slotting himself against Buck’s chest and tucking his face under Buck’s chin.
OR
Buck has a weird dream, Eddie has a nightmare, and for some reason this helps them figure it out.

I watched You’ve Got Mail again and then was possessed by Buddie and Bantr. You do not need to have seen Ted Lasso OR You’ve Got Mail to understand what’s happening here. Just know that it’s a story where two people who know each other in real life meet each other again as online strangers. They fall in love both irl and online and then live happily ever after.
This is also Sitcom 911, not Procedural Drama 911. Everyone is funny and snarky and a bit out of character, and we happen to avoid all near-death experiences.

Buck never no-call, no-showed to work.
The moment that the clock had shown that Buck was over five minutes late, Eddie started to worry. Five minutes could be excused by traffic. Buck made a point to not use his phone while driving, so those five minutes where the only acceptable window in Eddie’s book.
At seven minutes, he knew something was wrong.
At ten minutes, he had called Buck six times with no answer.
At twelve minutes, Eddie makes a beeline to the captain’s office, trying to keep his nerves in check as he knocks on the door.

“No, no she’s too close to this, and there’s no way she’d be awake at 2 A.M.”
“Ok, then your sisters—“
“Sophia’s in New York and Adriana is in San Francisco, there’s no way either of them could get there on time.” Eddie groans, collapsing on to the bed in a dramatic flop, face down next to Buck. Buck thinks for a second, then sits up abruptly, shaking Eddie’s shoulder excitedly as he does.
“I know—“ Buck says, scrambling for his phone. “I know who we can call.” Buck rolls over as the FaceTime tone rings out, settling on his stomach next to Eddie so they’re both in frame.

Eddie has a not-so-bad idea after a long shift with barely any sleep. Buck is 100% on board, and they call some friends to help make it happen

“I mean, I was just going to stomp off like an angsty teen, not jump into the lion exhibit,” Chris giggles. Eddie turns to him with an amused expression, brows upturned and a wide smile on his face. They break into laughter for a moment before Chris quiets down, nodding towards Buck. “Do you think he’s trying to convince us that he’s fine, or do you think he figured out that I’m not actually having a bad pain day?”
“A little bit of both,” Eddie sighs. He leans back in his chair, putting one leg up on the third, empty one so nobody tries to steal it. “I think if you try the ‘I’m tired’ yawn-trick again he might agree to go home after ice cream.”
“Deal,” Chris says, nodding. “But if that doesn’t work, I’m doing the angsty teen stomp-off. Please remember that I’m not actually mad at you if it comes to that.”
“I’ll remember,” Eddie laughs.
