This evening in a windswept borough of the Rafters, the superhero known as ‘Blindspot’ stands in an intersection median and directs traffic. He has been doing this for the past hour, and his arms angle themselves stop/go/left/right with weary, practiced ease. When I ask to join him, he balks like a preschool bully defending the sanctity of his swing set: “No shot, lady, it’s my median!”

Or: In the city-state of Carth, a drafted force of superheroes guards the city streets under the strict control of the clandestine City Watch. Reporter Joan Oculine goes for an informal city tour with Blindspot, an anonymous new hero assigned to patrol a notoriously rebellious neighborhood.

Summary
Tommy's called Blindspot for a reason. He’s not invisible, as he’s reminded Dream time and time again - people can definitely see him. They just don’t notice. He blends into plain sight, totally diverting all attention like water off of a duck.
Usually, anyway. Orpheus, however, stiffens a little as Tommy draws nearer. He starts glancing around, as if struck by sudden paranoia. Tommy draws up in front of him, staff clenched in one hand, and Orpheus starts turning as if to check behind him.
“What’s that,” Orpheus mutters. “Who’s there-“
Tommy pulls his staff back and slams it into Orpheus’s stomach, hard.
Orpheus stumbles. He wheezes, choking, and then looks up at Tommy and fixes him with a burning stare.
“Who the fuck are you,” Orpheus says, eyes wild and oddly delighted. “Where were you hiding?”

Suspected of betraying the Hero Guild, Apprentice hero Tommy (A.K.A. Blindspot) is put under Security Protocol Catbag: a locked-on noise cancelling mask equipped with truth gas. His mentor, Dream, calls it a necessary teaching tool.
Meanwhile, SBI wants to know why their least favorite loudmouth little Hero has suddenly stopped talking.

Wade sinks, just slightly, before he knows what he’s doing, and takes Matt’s jaw in his free hand. Jack is saying something - telling him not to worry, Matt was already blind - but Wade ignores him. He pats Matt’s cheek with the same hand holding the knife - once, twice - and waits for a reaction.
Matt blinks. Once, twice. Wade exhales, hard.
“That’s it, babe,” he murmurs.

Summary
Each time Wade wakes the coffin is a bit different. The second time, he notices cold sticky blood staining across the wood below his head. The second time, the blood is dried, and its smell is thick and foul. The third time, and scratched wood splinters from the coffin ceiling, falling into his eyes; his fingers are bloody and his nails half-ripped off. He can barely remember what he’d done for that to happen. The fourth time, he presses his ear to the coffin floor, and hears a faint scratching he realizes must be bugs and worms, trying to reach the smell of warm blood.
The tenth time he wakes up, there’s something new.

Summary
When Shane collides with Cliff Marlow during the Montreal vs Boston game in April of 2017, Ilya has to get through the evening not knowing how he's doing. He eventually confides in his roommate Cliff, who subsequently invites himself onto Ilya's trip to the hospital the next morning.
“Ask,” Ilya said flatly, trying not to admit to himself that he probably knew what he was about to be asked.
“What is your relationship with Shane Hollander?” Marlow asked.
He didn’t ask ‘are you and Shane Hollander in a relationship?’. If he asked that, Ilya might have laughed and told him everything. As it was, he considered lying. He was pretty sure that at this point, Marlow would believe whatever Ilya told him. It was apparently clear to Marlow that something was different about Shane and Ilya, so if Ilya told him they were friends and that Shane had been reaching out to him about his father, Marlow would believe him. It technically wasn’t untrue.
It also wasn’t covering the part where they’d been fucking since they were nineteen years old.

Jackie sits back in her seat, taking a sip of coffee as she considers her husband’s proposal.
It wasn’t a terrible idea. It’d involve lying to all the other WAGs, but Jackie wasn’t too bothered by that. If Shane ever decided to come out, they would either understand or they wouldn’t—a line that would probably pretty closely mirror those who would be okay with Shane being gay and those who wouldn’t. And those who wouldn’t—well, fuck them anyway.
“That does sound like it might be nice,” Jackie finally says, smiling when Hayden immediately sits up straighter at her approving words.
“Yeah?” Hayden checks anyways.
“Yeah,” Jackie says.
Or, despite his refusal to let her add him to the WAG group chat, Jackie manages to quickly befriend Shane’s boyfriend. It takes longer for her to understand exactly what that means.

Summary
Pretty much the first thing Scott figured out about hockey is how much men who don’t play it love the high of it. Execs love to push the guys to skate harder, faster, get the adrenaline so high they can feel it from the box. Or, well, that was the first thing he figured out about hockey after he ended up in a billet in Albany after his parents died. His parents had taught him a hell of a lot before the car crash, but sometimes the thing he played as a kid feels like a different sport altogether.
