Summary
Hot on the heels of some major life changes, Stede Bonnet is ready to stand up for himself and tell his parents once and for all who he really is. Izzy Hands just wanted a peaceful vacation over Christmas, but when his ex-boyfriend shows up with a new beau, the heat is on to show him just how happy he is without him. And on top of that, some blond twat is getting in the way of his good time, breaking his things and causing a ruckus.
The solution is for Stede and Izzy to tell everyone they're in a happy relationship, even though in reality they don't even like each other. Obviously.

You’ll come with us, and you’ll guide us to the Revenge, and when we’re done, you can have my other ship to do with what you like. Sell it, sail away, set it on fire, I don’t care. Do we have an accord?”
Bonnet held out a hand. His nails were ragged, and there were blisters on his fingers. Somehow, he still smelled of lavender. With all the recalcitrance of reaching towards an open flame, Izzy shook it.

He’s fighting to hold the tears back now, lines in his face deepening with the effort. He reaches out, and touches the edge of the sackcloth covering Ed’s face.
He doesn’t know if he can do it. He doesn’t know if he can face him. Doesn’t know if he can face the consequences of his own actions. He hadn’t known. How could he have known that he’d the capability to hurt a person with his absence? He’s only used to hurting people with his presence.
He brings his hands away again, leaving the sackcloth in place.
The body stays still, no accusations, no judgement, no absolution.

Therapy would say, this is temporary, Stede. When you’ve eaten something, and had some sleep, you’ll find this is temporary.
What therapy doesn’t help with is feeling like this now.
Therapy doesn’t stop the hot spikes at the back of his eyeballs, signalling tears that he isn’t even sure if he’s got the energy to shed. Therapy doesn’t stop the dull thud in his forehead that might mean dehydration, or exhaustion, or just that the car behind him in the never-ending traffic jam was a giant 4x4 with its LED headlights burning directly into Stede’s retinas for an hour.

Summary
Ed and Izzy used to be the most important people in each other’s lives. But it’s been five years since they had a falling out when Ed began dating Stede, and things have changed. Ed and Stede are leaving town - for good. Terrified that they’re going to lose any chance to ever reconnect and repair their relationship, Izzy winds up on a road trip with them to their new home.
