It was Pete’s time travel fortune telling whatever thing, and it brought future Patrick back to 2005! Which, to be fair, was a problem for future Patrick.
Now this is Patrick’s problem, and how ended up at- wherever he is. Whenever he is? Fucking hell, this is the kind of stuff he has to deal with now.

After sending his future self back to 2025, Patrick's convinced to do one more thing to make sure his future self made it back in one piece. He ends up finding out the answer the hard way (that is, being sent 20 years in the future himself).
