They never asked, in the end.
What had happened that made the other woman slip away like she did.
But it never did feel completely right, after, despite everything. Because Rumi was there but she also wasn’t, because she laughed and joked with them but never quite fully, because she would lean into their touch sometimes and then shrink away from it the next moment. Because she had walls all around her, and rarely, if ever, took them down.
Rumi had always been scared of something.

One, grief is not temporary. It might slip out of your grasp like a particularly wiggly fish and disappear downstream for a bit, but eventually it comes round again.
Two, libraries are wonderful, wonderful places. Books and reading are fucking fantastic, and Tommy plans on being a regular now at their local spot (annoying librarians be damned).
Three, cemetaries have shit fucking security systems.

“What are you two doing here?” He asked. “You,” He turned to Wilbur. “Are on exile, and you-” Tommy turned to Techno, “-are supposed to be in prison.”
“You? Why’d the split-haired kid bring you out here, Theseus?” Techno scoffed.
“What he means to ask are about the whereabouts of father?” Wilbur rephrased, “We requested an audience with the emperor.”
“I’m sure. Well, darling father Phil has unfortunately passed. And you two have also been presumed dead for years now. No one thought you lot would make it out alive.” Tommy raised an eyebrow, shaking his head. “Nevermind. Why are you here?”

“That’s shit.” Siren, the infamous supervillain, actually sounds like he’s sympathizing with him.

“So, what are you fighting about?”
Tommy raises a brow. “Do you expect me to give you my life story or some shit?”
“Yes.” Siren delicately claps his hands together. It was a gesture far too childish for a supervillain

As always, Tommy made sure to wear thick sweaters and heavy overalls, covering every spare inch of skin with fabric. For the most part, it worked. No one knew he was a pufferfish hybrid. They just thought he was a loud, boisterous kid who didn’t like being touched. They didn't even notice the tiny spines on his face, now that puberty and stress had mercifully covered his cheeks in acne.
One morning, Tubbo tried to grab Tommy’s hand. The ram hybrid ended up heaving over a bucket for the next few hours. There was no fresh milk in Pogtopia, so there was nothing they could do but wait for the nausea to pass.
It was the last time Tommy let anyone get close enough to make that mistake.

He was put into acting by his parents at a young age. They claimed he had a talent for it, with smiles as they dragged him to another audition, while he whined to them about wanting to go home and wanting to have friends that weren’t his adult co-workers who wanted nothing to do with him, but he would quickly change his act the moment he was in front of the casting director, putting on a fake yet nervous smile as he acted out the monologue his parents had picked out for him.
There were many things they wanted to be when he grew up.
An actor wasn’t one of them.

They were pretty sure that the spirit of Tommy was speaking through them because normally they would never dare to say something so stupid to a member of the Syndicate. But those words were certainly out there, and there was no taking them back. So Ranboo just had to live with the fact that they’d actually said that.
“What,” Phobos said, which was a pretty good question. Ranboo didn’t really know what either if he was being honest.
