Summary
Felix had argued vehemently, while Ingrid ripped the room apart to find clothing for them to wear and Sylvain listened at the cracked door to the soldiers downstairs informing the unimpressed brothel owner that they were conducting a routine search for spies from the Kingdom and would need access to all customer rooms, that there was no good reason he had to wear the costume and Sylvain got to keep (most of) his own clothes on.
Sylvain had—heroically, he thinks—refrained from saying either “You’re prettier” or “You’re so much smaller,” both of which are absolutely true and either of which would have earned him at least a minor stabbing.

“It wasn’t as bad as the time that poor marquis’ son tried to dance with you,” Mist said to Soren, “and my brother completely lost his mind.”
Ike made an annoyed noise at the back of his throat. Soren looked away.
“Or are we still not talking about that?” Mist asked, sounding deeply unimpressed.

Summary
As a PhD in Physics, Satoru Gojo had pictured a crisp, easy career path for himself: CERN, Non-Perturbative Structure of Infinities research, Oxford, papers in journals.
Instead, he accepts a job he’s either underqualified—or absurdly overqualified—for at a shadowy Global Intelligence Agency™. He’s brilliant at it, but brilliance doesn’t shield him from the kind of suffering no textbook ever covered: life.or: the one where satoru works for the government (multiple governments?), at a surveillance capitalist meta-analytic authority that treats his brain like a storage drive—but he doesn’t care, because a ripped, heavily tattooed suguru geto is his boss.

Summary
Kaveh's seen the prince before, even if only through sunken stone statues. This boy looks younger, thinner, and far less expressive. His face is gaunt—missing the prideful, nearly smug look etched into every marble bust that finds its way to the sea.
He’s indifferent to the storm, white knuckles clenched against the railing of the boat but otherwise passive—ignoring the sailors yelling behind him. Kaveh can’t hear what they say, not with the roar of the waves crashing against the hull of the ship. Nevertheless, it’s undeniably him—the prince, that is—gripping the edge as the boat tosses and turns. He looks behind himself, so small compared to his sculptures, silver hair plastered to his forehead from the rain.
A particularly large wave pushes Kaveh aside, tugging him under the surface. He tumbles around a bit in the frothy sea, disoriented but unharmed, before he’s able to resurface scanning the deck for the prince, but—he’s gone.

Summary
“You don’t need to tell me. I—I know, okay? Logically, I know we will be fine. But I can’t help it,” he said, sinking his nails into the fabric of his shirt. “I can’t help thinking that… that…”
“Can’t help thinking what?” he asked, voice low and void of any teasing. His gaze flat, his breathing calm. Kaveh fumed at the fact that he was the only one visibly affected.
“Can’t help thinking that I’m going to lose everything to the sands again.”
Perhaps only his father had died in the desert, but Kaveh’s entire home ended up swallowed by those same quicksands too.OR: Kaveh and Alhaitham find themselves unpacking their own feelings instead of packing their bags.
