The newest generation of Gotham doesn’t go trick-or-treating on Halloween, no college parties with twenty-dollar costumes and cheap beer which has been hidden under the stairwell for months in preparation. In Gotham, Halloween is a time to stay at home, hoard the candy for oneself, and wait. Wait in fear.
Even Wayne manor is silent, ridiculously tall wooden boards barring the Victorian windows that usually spend fractals of light scattering across the main hall. The door is bolted thrice with an assortment of locks and even the friendly butler Alfred is nowhere to be seen. The extensive mansion Bruce has grown up in is currently quiet and personless, but not empty. To say that the mansion is empty, after all, would negate the dozens of bats scurrying around under the floorboards around the cave, flapping their wings in preparation to take flight for the night.
