Summary
Choosing to sacrifice one’s own happiness for the sake of a loved one, Annie could understand. She also knew what it was to have no choice at all, to be fashioned by another into a means of securing their happiness—she knew it all too well. But what Mikasa was doing was neither of those things. For all her strength and brilliance, she was a fool. Annie did not mind Mikasa lying to her, but deceiving herself irked her terribly; Annie had always hated people of that sort.
A what-if scenario of Annie and Mikasa developing feelings for one another within the framework of the canonical story, and how this shaped their subsequent choices.

As far as Bob knew, he had never given much thought to soulmates.
