Summary
A small army of He Xuans had completely overtaken the kitchen and were hard at work cooking. A table near the door to the dining room was already piled with completed dishes, and yet they didn’t seem to be slowing down, adding more food to the table at a rapid pace.
The He Xuan nearest to the door glanced up from his cutting board when Xie Lian entered. “Your Highness,” he greeted before turning his attention back to the onions in front of him.
“Lord Black Water,” Xie Lian replied. “Uh… What brings you here?”
He Xuan didn’t look up when he replied. “If I’m joining you for dinner I’m not eating the abominations you call food.”
“I see,” said Xie Lian, who had had no idea He Xuan would be joining them for dinner until now.

He Xuan used to love the colour red. Just before he left to study, he and his Mei Qing had spent a whole day picking out crimson red wedding garments, lavish and more than his family could comfortably afford, but they paid for it anyway with barely a blink. As with anything that used to provide him comfort, red haunts his nightmares, on the occasions where he was so tired of being conscious that he welcomed the pull of unnecessary sleep.
Every time he meets Crimson Rain it's in a different skin. Man, woman, young, old. The only constant is Red.
Crimson Rain Sought Flower is always draped in red.

Xie Lian feels his shoulders instinctively relax at the mellow, bored voice cutting in to save the day. The Earth Master steps forward from the shadows, coming to stand at Xie Lian’s side without an ounce of shame or embarrassment. Xie Lian’s relief is short-lived, however, when he hears the murmurs of confusion that ripple through the room.
Wait. No. This will just cause even more problems — how on earth is he going to explain how he knows Ming Yi?!

Having met and married He Xuan and Hua Cheng earlier than in canon, Xie Lian's run in with Yanzhen goes...a little more awkwardly this time around. Fortunately (?) He Xuan is there to swoop in when things start going south. Surely this couldn't make things more complicated, right?

Aventurine, however, did. He must have whispered some teasing remark into Ratio's ear, judging by the blush he could see spreading down the doctor's neck.

There was no denying it. Aventurine was… in Ratio's home.
Said home had been the cause of countless headaches for the Strategic Investment Department when the Doctor's extravagant demands had been deemed non-negotiable if the IPC wanted him as one of their assets. The requirements had been awfully detailed, ranging from the sun orientation of a specific room to floor numbers to avoid, including a range of security measures that would make some of the most secure banks in the Corporation pale in humiliation.
When the security measures for Ratio's home had been made known, Aventurine had laughed until he almost choked on his own breath, secluded in the privacy of his own room. After all, he had thought, what could a scholar possess besides himself that would require protective measures nearly as extensive as the Central Bank or the Stonehearts' meeting room ?
Well, considering the tremendous number of lightcones filling the shelves, a personal version of the Gloswather's Eden of Blessed Insight was apparently the answer.

"Kaveh," he murmurs, moving his hand to stroke at the blonde's tresses. "Please come eat, and then I'll rest with you."
Alhaitham doesn't plead - he doesn't beg or grovel - but for Kaveh he was damn near close.
He quietly sits at the table as Alhaitham sets a dish in front of him. His eyes are too unfocused to make out the meat and vegetables, but he recognizes the Fatteh at the side of the plate and his heart aches.
He knows it's not Alhaitham's favorite thing to eat, yet he made it anyways. For Kaveh.
And all Kaveh's done is sob in his arms.

“The footsteps grew closer, momentarily quiet. Alhaitham took a breath and let it out, slow, at the prospect of another dramatic scene. He needed to ensure Azar believed he wasn’t faking. If Azar finds out he was pretending, the entire plan is ruined, and his life would be in extreme danger. He must pretend, no matter what. The footsteps draw close, then stop outside of the door.
“No…Alhaitham? Is that really you?” Kaveh asks shakily, and his heart plummets to the ground.”

Alhaitham knows that the entire plan depends entirely on Azar believing he was no longer a threat. Unfortunately for him, Azar has no reservations in his cruelty to test his resolve.
Kaveh was having a pretty good week overall - spoiled quickly by the knowledge that his roommate, best friend and love interest had irrevocably lost his mind.

Cyno sighs. "There has been an... incident with the Kshahrewar expedition," he says. "Someone reconnected the nearby Ruin Golem's power systems, and its weapon systems reactivated."
"Kaveh," Alhaitham murmurs, a little too dizzy to keep himself from verbalizing that first thought.
Cyno grimaces. "He helped several students escape the area, but he didn't leave himself."
Alhaitham's head throbs. He rubs at his sinuses. "Of course he didn't," he says. It's Kaveh. "He went into the Golem, didn't he?"
Cyno sighs. "The students said that he did, in fact, go into the Golem."
Alhaitham has the flu. Unfortunately, Kaveh has need of Alhaitham.

It's been a while since he’s hung out with anyone, probably a few months. Going outside and having friends hasn’t felt the same since then. The noises became annoying, laughter felt like a taunt, and people grew to be quite unbearable.
Walking through the snow always felt so peaceful. Holding hands with him, laughing, and having little talks about their future, it made Cassian so unbelievably happy. How naive was I to believe such nonsense? Now, the glistening light of the snow pricked his eyes until his vision got blurry, and the crunch sounded like laughter. “You really believed him, didn’t you?” They laughed at his misery.
