Summary
Khadgar is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his magic, which, a few years after the battle against Medivh and the demon Sargeras that robbed him of his youth, still has not returned to him. He feels empty, useless, and overwhelmingly guilty at all that he has been unable to do in his weakened state—the destruction he might have prevented, if only he could call again upon the arcane.
Lothar, however, does not share Khadgar's pessimism.
In fact, Lothar is willing to go to unprecedented lengths in order to remind Khadgar of the mage's worth.

Summary
There was something…unsettling about the boy. Anduin had thought so since their first meeting, but it became even more evident as he spent more time around the kid. It again called into question whether he could trust the boy, because the mage was clearly carrying a wide range of secrets with him, but there was…something else. A burden, perhaps—the child had been through something that had changed him formatively.
Anduin couldn’t be certain of that, of course. But he had seen enough in young soldiers, the loss of their comrades, hardened by war…
He almost wanted to ask.
Light, but he did not want to sympathize with the kid.

When Khadgar turned up in Stormwind, mere months after renouncing his vow as Guardian Novitiate, it was to bring attention to a dark magic that was only the beginning of the threat Azeroth was coming to face. He never anticipated that he would be drawn into a war.

Until, finally, he's found what he's certain is the absolute perfect gift for the warrior—something simple and ornate, thoughtful and useful, beautiful inside and out.
Fate still doesn't seem to agree with him, however.

Summary
By request: An edited version of my Athelnar series, for those not into the NC-17 level sex scenes.
There IS still plenty of sex in here. There are far too many critical conversations and plot points that happen during sex scenes for me to redact them entirely. I have, however, toned it down considerably. It's a lot more euphemistic, a few scenes are fade-to-black, and I did cut a couple of PWPs entirely. It's more or less on par with canon sex, though probably closer to the unedited versions than the ones History airs. (Also, the non-con warnings are for references, not actual non-con scenes.)
Basically, if you're not squeamish about sex in general but you'd rather read for plot than porn, this is your version.

Pain and murmuring woke Ragnar. The pain was entire.. the murmurs were easier to ignore but more distracting, as Ragnar tried, with bleary eyes, to watch his priest's lips form the soft, unrecognizable words of prayer, steady and repetitive.
“Do not try to bring your God here, Athelstan, I think it will be too cold for him. He will not want to come.”
