    Aizawa had always been a nurturer. He knew playing the role of a mentor was an incredibly important part, especially when it came to the kids at this stage of adolescence. He was determined to be their mentor. To be there for them whenever they fell and couldn’t get back up on their own.

    It was his partner that noticed it first. The way Aizawa’s light was slowly burning out. That golden determination turning into plain exhaustion.

    The hero would never admit it, but sometimes he burned a little too brightly to keep everyone warm.

    Or; while hellbent on saving these kids, Aizawa realises he might need to be saved, too.

    Izuku is no fool. He knows the worst of the society he lives in (he has been Quirkless, has been cursed by strangers in the street or left upon a rooftop; he has been a hero student, harassed by a hoard of media or facing a hulking monster in the name of killing All Might-) but he still has hope. He still wants to be a hero, more than ever before in fact.

    He wants to help people, no matter what.

    Tomura is probably a fool, sometimes, but he isn't stupid. He knows that he is a villain, that he has caused pain and suffering and has done so with manic intent.

    He wants All Might dead. More, far more than that, he wants society to be different, to be better, because it raised a child like him in blood and dust and bigotry. It left him in his Sensei's arms.

    Maybe, together, they'll both find a better way to achieve their goals. Perhaps, even, they will fall in love along the way.

    Izuku and Katsuki haven't had an easy relationship since they were four years old. Not since Quirks and school and parents came between them, pushed them apart and pulled them together. But they've still had a relationship, hidden in half-meant interactions and heart-full shadows: they're simply waiting for the time and space and safety to fix what's been broken, to build upon what has stayed strong.

    They find it at UA.
     

     

    Knowing this, knowing them, has Katsuki finding a well of patience rather than the ever-simmering frustration, and he waits, still just out of reach. The cold, soft part of him that always trembles around Izuku is shuddering fit to fall apart, to sink jagged bone-white teeth into his heart, because this is his fault. All of it. (Logically, he knows that it's every-fucking-one around them, but it's still him that said those stupid, shitty words today-)  And as it's his fault, the onus is on him to wait for as long as Izuku might need him to. Because, as much as he pushes and prods and ruins the bonds between them, Izuku keeps them strong until moments like this, when it's Katsuki's turn to hold them both together against the world that seems out to destroy them.

    Summary

    Izuku and Aizawa are caught in a loop of the USJ, dying and trying and failing over and over again until finally, finally, they break the cycle.

    But they're not the same as the reality that they've returned to, and with the events of a single day changed for only two people, a drop falls into the ink of their world, and the story rewrites itself from there.

    Shouta comes home to his family, as always. He comes home to feathers all over the floor, and a soft voice humming, and so much quiet joy that he can't help but smile, even if only a little bit.

    He and Hizashi were happy before Izuku came into their lives. But now, with their son (their angel, their Star-) here too? Well, it has only changed their lives for the better, undeniably.
