The second exercise in the 2022 Vexercises called for creating a 1-minute vid with continuity of action. Although Doctor Who is notorious for characters running down corridors, but in The Key to Time series they seem to spend a lot more of their time just walking, a perfect action for this exercise.

For the exercises in the 2022 Vexercises I've decided to use four stories from The Key to Time series. Pechakucha 2 ways involves creating a 1 minute vid consisting of 10 clips, each 6 seconds long and a bit of music. Then substitute a second song with the same video clips.
Initially I was going to use James Taylor's song Your Smiling Face and focus on the Doctor's very expressive face. The second version would use Somebody's Watching Me by Rockwell That idea didn't last beyond the first draft when it was clear that the James Taylor song wasn't working, but the Rockwell song was great.
What I needed was something kind of quirky in tone. I love jazz from the 1930s and no one does quirky jazz quite like Raymond Scott and his Quintette.

As part of Vexercises exercise 6 I chose to reframe the movie Tampopo as a Western using Ennio Morricone's iconic theme song from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Some of the common Western tropes include:
The mysterious stranger riding into town - Goro
His trusty steed - Goro’s truck
Beautiful woman with a troubled past - Tampopo, a widow with a failing restaurant
A villain - Pisken, who harasses Tampopo about closing her restaurant
The gunfight - in this case a fistfight in the street

I've been vidding only sporadically so I decided to try the vexercises vidding exercise challenges now that I have more time on my hands. The first exercise was simple, adapting pechakucha presentations to vidding by making a simple one minute vid with ten six second clips, fading the audio at the beginning and the end. Then take those same clips and use a second piece of music.
For several years I've had Tampopo in mind as something I'd want to vid. The movie features an A storyline, a widow named Tampopo who struggles to perfect the ramen she serves at her restairant, and a B storyline, a gangster and his companion who use food in erotic ways. There are also half a dozen additional vignettes.
For this exercise I wanted to focus on Tampopo. The first vid has upbeat music to show her working toward success. The second has downbeat music that emphasizes her frustration. I'm not sure it's entirely successful, but it was enjoyable to work on.
