"... Frieren?"
A soft, melodic voice. His voice. She didn't realise how much it danced in her ears until she heard it again. She faced him, the torrential anxiety within her disappearing in a blink.
A calming smile was plastered on both of their faces, an expression they weren't expecting to wear upon their reunion. But there were no other expressions to make, because neither of them were particularly theatrical actors. As she thought, a tearful reunion didn't suit them at all.
"It's been a while," Himmel said.
The party reaches Aureole, and each of them split off to the people they needed to talk to the most, the dearest people in their lives that had long passed.

In this little pocket of the forest, where the two of them danced beneath the moonlight, the world felt like it had slowed down with them too.
"I wish this night would last forever," Himmel muttered, smiling. He leaned in to her shoulder and she felt his warm breath tickle her neck.
Frieren chuckled. "I thought you loved watching the sunrise."
Himmel tightened the link between their fingers ever so slightly. "There's just a few things I love far more than that. Just... a few."
She tilted her head. Again. He always said things she couldn't fully comprehend.
"Frieren, what would you do if I disappeared?"
Set during their 10-year journey, the hero's party is tasked to defeat the Rosenhexe, an elusive creature capable of cursing certain individuals with flowers that sprouted in their lungs, and Himmel had to make a difficult choice between himself or the world he swore to defend.
