He nearly jumps out of his skin, looking over with a nervous grin. “Yes?”
“You have been non stop shaking your leg, and you haven’t been listening to a word I’ve been saying. Do tell, what has your mind so preoccupied that you cannot focus on the case you requested my help on?” Edgeworth asks, leaning back a bit and adjusting his glasses on his nose.
Fuck. He cannot and will not admit that his thoughts had been about Miles and how nice he smells and how close they’re sitting. He can’t. So, he panics and blurts out the next thing that comes to his mind.
“Shakespeare.”

Summary
Phoenix sat in front of his large mirror. His red hair was all a mess and his hand covering most of his face. His fingers were splayed out so he could watch his other hand try to cover up the binder with the tanktop he wanted to wear. It was failing. The scoop of the neck was too low, the straps were just barely wide enough that any movement caused the binder underneath to show. The colour of his face matched the redness of his hair. He’d been crying for some time now, albeit silently.
Cove watched as Phoenix’s fingernails scraped down the front of his chest, down the material of the binder, where he could still somewhat see little bumps that looked more like pecs than anything through the tank top. Both hands went to his face as he curled into his pretzel-style legs on the floor, his body shaking as sobs wracked his body. Cove, at first, didn’t react. He couldn’t react, frozen in place by shock. He knew Phoenix had problems with his body, knew he struggled with some dysphoria, but Cove had no idea it was to the point of this. Watching Phoenix sob and grip his hair, Cove couldn’t wait any longer. He opened the window to climb in.

Summary
Phoenix knew Cove hated when he climbed like this. Cove always gave a loud, dramatic sigh at the image of his friend hanging off of a branch like a sloth. He knew Phoenix had been doing this for years, but that internal panic at seeing the branches bounce with the weight never ceased. Even though Phoenix had come home several times with injuries, some just small scrapes to large cuts and gashes on his legs and hands, it never seemed to bother him. Some scars lingered from more careless days, but it never once stopped him.
Honestly, even if he did fall, Phoenix knew that everyone would know where to find him. If he wasn’t answering his phone or if no one could find him, go to the park. He was a creature of habit.
Cove always worried about him. Phoenix brushed it off. “You’ll always come find me.”
“Yeah, and I’d rather not find you badly injured.”
“Injuries are for amateurs.”
Or so he thought.

Summary
Brady preferred being alone with Owain. He preferred to keep Owain’s tales just between them, keep his stupid interest in these dumb, hard-to-follow stories that seemingly came from almost nowhere all to himself. The broody man was a far more possessive person than he originally expected, or even really wanted to admit.
It was moments like this, though, where Owain was in Brady’s room while Maribelle and Donny were gone, that Brady cherished the most.

Damn. Mystery solved. Don't even need to start this fic with some vaguely stealthy eavesdropping from Kay, as her current position in the gallery reduces stealth to 'sit quietly' and 'don't fuck it up'.
