Summary
Irina Rozanova! Junior World champion for second year in a row. Has your uncle reached out for any words of advice?”
“No,” her tone made him wince, “my uncle and I do not speak.”
“Oh?”
“Not important. Ask important question or I’ll get bored. No question about triple axel?”
“Any relation?” Scott Hunter’s voice made him turn from where he was leaning against the bar. The older captain came to his side, taking a beer from Kip who was bartending with a wink.
“My niece,” Ilya said and downed a mouthful of beer.
------
After seeing his niece win Olympic Silver Ilya is haunted by her ghost, the past she represents, and what exactly he left behind. But the past always comes back.Series

Jane (21:23): Come over?
Ilya stared at the message. Rage swirled in his stomach - that Shane would run out on him like that, spend the next two months shoving his fucking girlfriend in Ilya’s face, and then text him like none of that had happened. Like none of it mattered.
Mixed in with the anger, though, and threatening to overwhelm it, was the hot burn of shame. Because Ilya was already texting back okay and putting on his shoes. Because he was fucking pathetic, and couldn’t resist.

“What is there to talk about?”
“What’s there to talk about?!” Hollander scoffed, shaking his head. “You’re playing for my fucking team!”
“I know.”
“Why did you have to go and get traded?! You realise we’re going to have to see each other every day from now on, and play together, and-”
“Yes,” Ilya interrupted. He didn’t want to know how long Hollander’s list was. “I know.”
Hollander took a deep breath. “Okay, listen,” he said. “Just so we’re clear - we don’t know each other outside of playing against each other, right?”
“Right.”
“And we can’t- can’t hook up anymore.”
~
OR: Ilya gets traded to Montreal in October 2014. He's lonely, and angry, and he misses Boston. He doesn't know if it helps that Hollander is there or not.

yes this is good. very interesting the characterization development of ilya and his more connection to russia as well as some more low level depression throughout. i also love the rose situation changes. and the way the hollanov relationship is able to reach an almost casual dating aspect, even when ilya talks about it it’s a breakup. and then having ilyas rebound fuckbuddie but also kind of realshionship be the team physio is so so good. yes overall just great story with super fun plot
