Summary
Days bled into one another at Arkham Asylum while people decided what was to done about Lex Luthor. There was no longer a Lex Luthor out there to offer to lock him away somewhere. He was led from room to room based on the needs of others. He was spending most of his time being asked questions by people at varying levels of anger.
The reporter from the Daily Planet was waiting for him in the interview room this time. The man was scribbling down notes, putting Lex in mind of his doctors. They were resuming the interview that Lex had to cut short before. Whether or not he wanted to talk to the reporter was one of the only things that he could control.

The day/night cycle of Arkham Asylum was strictly enforced. Lex was being forcibly aligned with the schedule that the staff had deemed to be therapeutic. There were no clocks, no outside windows with shadows cast to let him know the time of day. The coming and goings of the staff were seemingly randomized to protect them from exposure to their charges. Some of the inhabitants were literally radioactive, others had other abilities to impact a commoner. Lex was purely human, but subject to the same restrictions as any other inhabitant of Arkham. He remained in limbo of undiagnosed insanity and undefined criminality.

Summary
Clark sat at his desk at the Daily Planet, reading Lois's piece on Eve Tesmacher. It was good, highlighting how Eve had been such a crucial component of bringing Lex down. It included a brief teaser, just a couple of sentences explaining that the Daily Planet had tried to interview Lex Luthor himself. Clark scowled at that. He'd gotten enough to confirm that Lex was alive and at Arkham, having laid eyes on him for himself.

For whatever reason, Lex chose Eve to be his girlfriend. He didn't explain his reasoning. It wasn't like Eve was going to question it. He was the type of man who could make decisions like that. He wasn't unattractive, it was just about the money, or the power. When they first got together, she thought he was cute. Tall, powerful, the total package.

Summary
Superman was spotted, which Batman could hardly let that go. If there was another superhero in Gotham, there had to be a reason why. Luthor was an explanation, but only if this didn't become a pattern.
The alien was lurking on a rooftop in the setting sun. It was a little early for Batman to be patrolling, but an out-of-towner didn't need to know that. He clearly hadn't done his homework.

Lex Luthor was held at the minimum security wing of Arkham Asylum due to the nature of his crimes. Without any mutations of any kind at play, he'd still been able to achieve a level of villainy most often seen within the city limits of Gotham. His legal counsel was pursuing a study of the exact definition of megalomania and how it might apply to his situation.
He was fixated, allegedly, on Superman. Not swooning over abnormal muscles or tying young women to railroad tracks just to watch him work. Lex hadn't enjoyed anything to do with Superman except watching him suffer.

The car was in fact a 20-year-old pickup truck, popped up by a man in an eye-watering red-and-blue flannel shirt. The driver's long sleeves were rolled up, an acknowledgement of the scorching weather. Bruce was ready to start peeling away layers of his tailored suit like a snake shedding its skin.
