James returns his stare, deadpan, and finally lowers the magazine.
“You were going to go off on a tangent again about how hot Remus looked today and how badly you want to kiss him, shag him, shack up with him and adopt many children—in that exact order.”
“Was not!” Sirius squawks, but his voice – the traitor - betrays him and comes out too high-pitched to continue to feign he wasn't about to say... well, exactly that.

Remus shook his head and lit up by a lone streetlight, Sirius noticed the way his cheeks and the tips of his ears seemed to darken slightly.
“That’s what I thought.” Sirius crushed the cigarette under the heel of his boot. Then, he stepped up to hook his elbow with Remus’s and started walking them back towards the hotel.
“Besides,” he added, meeting Remus’s gaze with a twinkle in his eyes. “With a smile like that, how could I ever say no?”or
the pretty woman au nobody asked for. sirius is out of options to pay rent, and remus is lonely and rich.

Sirius is not an idiot, no matter what James says. He knows he was meant to be a Gryffindor. He was meant to keep his feet firmly on the ground because no one (not even Fleamont) has managed to perfect a haircare range that leaves your locks silky smooth after even a few death-defying dives on a broomstick. He also knows that Remus Lupin can't dance. He's undeniably gorgeous, but there is absolutely no way that lanky beanpole can do anything elegantly (maybe he's a little elegant when he licks his thumb to turn the pages in his latest book but Sirius certainly doesn't watch that).
Except he might just be wrong.
