    Vulcan winters are cold, but the people are colder still. Leonard McCoy is three weeks into a one-year residency in the best damned hospital in the Alpha Quadrant and he doesn’t know how he’ll survive. The Vulcans seem to find him distasteful at best, utterly ignorable at worst. He feels lonely and lost until his roommate M’Benga takes him down to the market just for something to do. He finds himself drawn to the soulful sweet sounds of lyre playing and meets a tall, awkward Vulcan with stunning brown eyes and long clever fingers who seems to be the only person who’s actually feeling anything around here. He meets Spock, and it isn’t long before he starts falling for him.

    After the events on Bandomeer, Qui-Gon reiterates that he cannot train Obi-Wan, but he tells Obi-Wan he deserves to be a Jedi. Obi-Wan follows Qui-Gon back to the Temple, becomes the padawan of Councilor Mace Windu, and dedicates himself to being a padawan worthy of a master who sits on the Council and invented his own lightaber form. Along the way, he bonds with his lineage sister, Depa Billaba, gets into mischief with his best friend Quinlan, and meets the Mand'alor, Jaster Mereel.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi, unwanted child and then unwanted initiate finds himself a family that spans cultures and the galaxy. And when darkness rises up to threaten it, he defends his family with all the lessons and tricks the Force has taught him.

    The Jedi have been slaughtered, Anakin has turned dark side, and Obi-Wan is being hunted by his former apprentice. When Yoda tells him he needs to fake his death, Obi-Wan agrees. It isn't as though this is new to him. Obi-Wan, Cody, and Rex are put into a deep Force sleep, and Yoda promises to wake them when the galaxy needs them again.

    But it isn't Yoda who wakes them. It's a small voice, calling out to a Jedi for help. Obi-Wan wakes up to a quiet head, both Yoda and Anakin are dead. And then he learns thirty years have passed while he's been asleep. With the Jedi Order gone, with Mandalore glassed, with a Empire that has risen and fallen, Obi-Wan, Cody, and Rex must decide what their place is in this new galaxy.

    But first, there is a child who needs help. The only clue Obi-Wan has is a Mandalorian in shiny beskar'gam. If they can find one, they can find the other.
