His fingers tremble around the scissor handles as he raises them to Giyuu’s hair, taking some of it into his hand and staring down at it. Dark, beautiful hair. Like Genya’s was.
Sanemi thinks of his little brother, then, five years old and laughing around mouthfuls of watermelon. Sticky hands, grabbing at his shirt. Demanding he come play. Doe-eyed, bright and hopeful.
Crumbling away like sand through his fingers.
or: giyuu asks sanemi to cut his hair. it doesn't really go that way.

Summary
Continuation of my Cruel Intentions series; follows Lacrimosa and is the first book. What lengths would you go for a friend? Manny and Diego find out the measures devotion costs as outside forces conspire to tear the herd and their friendship apart.
T for violence & thematic elements, lots of whump, hurt/comfort, and angst. Emphasis on Mango bromance/friendship and Diego & Peaches uncle/niece relationship are the focus as Roshan's return causes havoc for the herd and the Bredelands. Canon-divergent AU as of the latter Ice Age sequels of IA4/5, i.e. throwing back to IA1's tone/themes/atmosphere as much as possible, in this series; technically begins post-IA3.
Additional tagline for this book: Hiding the truth often comes at a great cost. Is it one the herd - and Manny & Diego in particular - are willing to pay?

Summary
It was common knowledge that all slayers, around the age of 18, tsuchinoto rank and above were required to have a designated heat and rut partner to pair up with whenever one or both slayers' mating cycles occur. Each slayer is given the option to choose their designated partner, however both parties must agree to being each other's partner, if a slayer didn't choose a designated partner within six months a partner would be assigned to them at random.
Unfortunately for Genya and Inosuke they ended up being randomly assigned to each other. But once their time together is over, will they still want to be with one another?
