His mind was telling him to push Hawks away, burn a few feathers and scare him off. But as amber eyes met icy blue, something seemed to click. As if time stopped, or maybe as if everything that ever weighted onto him suddenly melted, dissipated. It seemed as if there were no heroes or villains, the two sides suddenly faded away, and, standing this close to Hawks, he couldn’t make sense of any damn thing.”
