The spiky blonde hair and carmine red eyes that everyone mentioned off handedly, sometimes accompanied with a swoon, sometimes with disdain.
Izuku could understand why, now.
He had the type of face that would make girls in his high school wear heart eyes and shove love notes in his locker. Hell, if Izuku was openly gay he’d do that too.

The last he saw of his mother was before the final fight between the Heroes and All for One. sitting below in the bunkers, hunkered down within the walls of U.A. Inko forced Izuku to promise her that he would return to her after everything was over…a promise he had neglected to remember, even as his quirk killed him alongside his enemy. Izuku felt tears start to roll down his face and the face of his mother smiled in concern, reaching down to wipe his tears gently.
“Shhh shhh…be still”
He feared for a moment that he was somehow transported to a world of giants when his ‘mother’ leaned over him and unbound his body, Izuku glanced down as much as he could, and had a sudden realization.
They weren't giants….he was a baby.
‘Im anír- na est- hon Izuku. Im don't know whui. But hon est- na- Izuku’
He was a baby. In another world. As a baby…
All Izuku could do was burst into tears.

Izuku isn't sad anymore. He's just tired. He has a plan, a date, and a countdown. He just has to survive his third year of middle school, and then he can finally stop the noise.
But when a mandatory Social Studies project on "Nature vs. Nurture" pairs him with his childhood friend-turned-bully, Izuku is forced to engage with the world he's trying to leave behind. Through the lens of a camera and weekly meetups, Bakugo begins to notice that the nerd isn't scared anymore—he's empty.
And Bakugo decides he hates the silence more than the muttering.

Summary
What if there were actual consequences to Izuku’s health following the sludge villain incident? After Katsuki’s own experience with the sludge villain, he finds Izuku in critical condition as a result of everything that happened to him that day. Now Izuku has been given a year to live- if he’s lucky, which let’s face it, when has that ever happened, and Katsuki is getting a front row seat to just how bad the discrimination his childhood best friend has been dealing with for the past decade really is. Suffice to say, he’s pissed.
