“Martin… You’re not, uh…” Jon rubs a self-conscious hand over the back of his neck, naturally unsure about the proper way to broach the subject of one’s possible death. “You didn’t die here, did you?”
Martin swallows. “I… did, actually?” He says, his brows shooting up with an apologetic smile. He sounds as though he thinks he’s done something wrong somehow by dying.
Jon can see dead people. Martin is haunting his new flat.

Summary
After the end of the end of the world, Jon and Martin end up in the same place the Entities do—which is to say, everywhere. The problem is, they’ve never been everywhere before, and it’s not as easy as it looks. While they would very much like to help the innumerable worlds that they doomed to the predation of the Dread Powers, they don’t have much practice at influencing reality through spooky books, monsters, or spacetime manipulation. That doesn’t mean they don’t try their best.
Elsewhere, in one of these innumerable worlds, Jon finds a book. It tells him to fall in love, and also, to invest in a cement mixer.

Summary
“It is about time for you to conceive an heir,” Peter elaborated, perhaps having picked up on Martin’s confusion, after all. It was all Martin could do not to spit out his mouthful of red with brilliant comedic timing, barely managing to gulp it down and cough into the handkerchief framed in delicate lace that was likely spun out of fairy silk, or whatever bullshit could be made up to excuse the price tags of the restaurant.
Despite his best attempt to keep it down, Martin still felt his mother’s burning glare on him. She’d taken on the life of a Lukas like a duck to water, unlike him, so he pointedly ignored it.
Peter was more forgiving, in that sense; such an affable man, Peter, up until the moment he’d chuck you into a hellscape of perpetual loneliness, that was.
Once he trusted he wouldn’t start coughing again, Martin forced himself to emerge from the handkerchief, unable to hold back his alarmed expression. “Is it time to what?”

Summary
“...Sure,” Martin replied glumly. He wondered if this is how all those french people felt, back in the days of guillotines. “Huh— How do you think I should introduce myself to this Archivist, anyway? They are going to be my boss, technically speaking, so I suppose I can at least try to make a good first impression…?”
The look Tim and Sasha shared was… Certainly something.
“I don’t think introductions will really be required,” she said, delicately.
“Right. Ok. Sure. Do you know what their name is? I ought to at least know that, right?” Martin pressed on, voice tinted by desperation. “Mr. Bouchard wouldn’t say—”
Again with the look. Martin was going to scream.
“Don’t you worry about that, bud,” Tim said with a very forced, nervous little grin. “The Archivist is just The Archivist. Just get in there and… Godspeed?”

Moved by desperation, Martin accepts a job he's perfectly aware is bad news, but maybe... It won't be as such for long.
