Ever since George clawed his way into Formula One, it was clear that he and Max Verstappen were like oil and water, two people destined to clash no matter what. The constant fighting, the cold dislike, the conflict was an inevitability. And as far as George was concerned, it was impossible for it to be any other way.

Summary
‘Unlucky,’ George says to Max, when they pass in the media pen after Max scrapes him in Barcelona and gets pushed down into tenth. It’s almost akin to sour nausea, the anger that swirls in the pit of his stomach as he fixes Max with a tight smile.
‘Yeah,’ Max says; George watches his jaw work and feels a deep pang of something, like victory but tough, like chewing tendon meat, ‘Unlucky.’
Later, in his hotel bathroom, he traces fingertips across his ribs, staring at himself in the mirror like he’s expecting to see flesh exposed there. Like Max had clawed right through chrome and aluminium to get at the innards; like he’d smelt the blood within.

Summary
Following the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max and George form an unlikely friendship.
George has always taken pride in his control and discipline, but the closer he grows to Max, the more that control begins to slip.
