Painful and perfect exploration of what it means to be gay officer on Barrayar. I ache for Jole, and all he's never thought he could have. And I really, really love Simon here, revealing all the things he needs to know, refusing all the secrets he does not need, and in the end treating Jole with an unexpectedly gentle respect.
