Work Text:

The night before had been quite active, they were forced to go to several award ceremonies and they were moving to a larger studio. And the rest of the week was going to be the same, going here, going there, with barely any time to relax. They only had four hours a night to charge leaving them with 40% battery by the time they left. They had to bring large clunky backpacks with them just so they could charge on the way there. And what Thomas hated most of all was the fact that they had to be seperated and interviewed individually. They were asked all the same questions at the same time, which confused Thomas greatly on why they had to be seperated. Maybe it was for a proof thing, that they really were robots and shared a connection. They shared jokes and images of the interviewers over their subprocessor interfaces, it wasn't all that bad but it always made Thomas worried.

Guy-Man's fans whirred as he awoke from his sleep mode, and things instantly felt different. He felt longer and lighter, it felt easier to move, so naturally he stretched. His hand hit something in front of him, but what? He was facing away from Thomas just last night, and he was never one to shift around in his sleep. His visor adjusted to the darkness and he soon noticed that the person in front of him was- him? But- he was himself and- then- what? Guy-Man looked down at his hands, they were silver plated instead of gold. Maybe his visor was malfunctioning? He ran a quick self diagnostic check yet the results left him empty handed. Everything was the same, yet it felt so different. He sat up and stared at his legs. 'This is Thomas' body? But how..' He huffed quietly in thought. He looked over to his husband, who was still peacefully asleep.

He slid off of the bed and walked over to the other side. He was unsteady on these different and strange legs, he'd have to reach farther to take a 'normal' step, which would be a leap to him normally. But of course this wasn't normal. He stared at his own helmet, yet it wasn't on him. 'Is that really how I look to other people?' He asked himself in a joking manner. He saw his reflection in the large dome of the helmet. He was wearing Thomas' helmet, on Thomas' body. He was sure this wasn't some sort of dream, it couldn't be. He shook Thomas gently in an attempt to wake him up.

"Mmh.. morning." Thomas said quietly.

"Bonjour. It seems we've switched bodies." Guy-Man spoke quite casually.

Thomas' LED dome lit up yellow. He shot up from the bed. "What?! What the-" Thomas stared at himself- or.. was it Guy-Man, was this a dream?

"What?? How long is this going to last? We need to call someone, a technician maybe? I- I-" Thomas tried to take a step forward but ended up performing a split. He let out a loud garbled beep. He folded in on himself instantly. "Ouch." He muttered.

Guy-Man bent down to Thomas' level. "Be careful, please. I know how reckless you can be when you're scared."

"SCARED? I- I'm not scared! I'm just confused, I don't know what's going on, how did this-" Thomas' rant was short lived.

Guy-Man hugged him and dragged him over to the bed so that they were in a sitting spoon position. "Shh, shh. It's alright. Think of this as an opportunity. This will be fun!"

Thomas huffed in disagreement. "We have a very important interview in two hours, how are we supposed to go out like this? What will we do?"

Guy-Man sent a pulse of happiness to Thomas. "We'll have fun! We just have to figure out how to act like each other. Or.. we can stay here."

Thomas' LED dome had a frowning emoticon on it. "I- I rather stay here. You know I don't like being left around a ton of.. strangers." He leaned back in to Guy-Man and looked up so he could gaze at his own helmet.

"Alright, I'll call them and.. just say it was a small malfunction, like a cold." Guy-Man responded softly. He patted Thomas' shoulders gently and reassuringly. Usually Guy-Man was the one to be all stressed and Thomas the calm one, but I guess that their neural pathways were so different that only their consciousness was transferred and the wiring remained the same.

After they called in "sick", they went to lay down for a much needed full charge. Guy-Man pulled the covers over them and 'kissed' his husband's head softly. It made a quiet clink. That was Guy-Man's favorite part about kissing as a robot. The quiet clink that followed after every kiss.

"It will be okay, we'll figure out how to fix this. I promise mon amour, I love you."

Thomas' domed visor showed a small indication of blush. "I love you too. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."
