Summary:
Yu Ziyuan has never had the knack for talking to people without insulting them. Zangse Sanren is the first person who's ever made her wish she had learned.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: This work is a side-story to And Time Is But A Paper Moon and may make very little sense if you haven't read that. (And also spoil it quite a lot, because there is significant chronological overlap.)
Notes about names:
Jin Zixuan's mother is, canonically, Yu Ziyuan's friend of many years; for purposes of this fic series, her name is Duan Ai, since her dear friend who has known her since before she married will not think of her solely as the wife of Jin Guangshan.
Wei Wuxian's mother's name is, canonically, 藏色散人. This is often translated as Cangse Sanren. It can also be translated as Zangse Sanren, because 藏 can mean either cáng or zàng. I prefer Zangse, for reasons previously explained (on another fic).
Yanli means hating separation.
Story is complete, will post every second day as usual.
