“Sap,” he whispered out into the darkness, waiting for the flick of a candle’s flame. “Sap, love?”
It wasn’t until he spoke that the flame ignited, far off in the distant corner where the prince seemed to be hiding himself. He was dressed in loose bedclothes, candle held gently with two shaky hands. The soft orange light was only just enough to light up his face, embers glowing in the dark of Sapnap’s eyes and telling George a hundred thousand secrets.
There's something unfortunate about forbidden love, and it's the way something so beautiful manages to feel so much like a curse.
