Work Text:
Kaoru woke up to the sound of crying. He quickly threw off the covers, not caring if he disturbed Kojiro on his way to take care of their young son. He hurried to the other bedroom in the apartment above Sia la Luce.
There he found Miya, curled into a ball. His covers and pillow had been thrown off the bed. “Dad?” Miya’s voice was weak.
“Shh, everything is going to be alright,” Kaoru said as he knelt beside the bed and gently stroked Miya’s short, black hair. “What’s the matter?”
“I had a really bad dream and my stomach hurts,” Miya replied, tears forming in his eyes.
“Can you sit up? I’ll go make you some tea. It will help you feel better.”
Miya shook his head. “Don’t leave me! I don’t want to be alone right now.”
“I’ll be gone for just a moment. You’ll be okay for a little while.” Kaoru held Miya’s hand, rubbing his thumb gently across Miya’s knuckles.
A large shadow suddenly filled the room. Kaoru and Miya looked over to see Kojiro’s large figure standing in the doorway. “Hey, Miya. Is everything alright?” He asked as he walked over and knelt next to Kaoru.
“He’s feeling sick. Would you please stay with him while I make some tea?” Kaoru said as he stood.
“Yes of course.” As Kaoru left the room, he heard the soft tones of Kojiro singing a song to comfort Miya.
When Kaoru returned with a fresh pot of ginger tea, Miya was curled against Kojiro’s chest. His soft breathing was barely audible over Kojiro’s gentle humming. Setting the tea down, Kaoru asked Carla to check Miya’s temperature. When he was certain Miya would be fine, Kaoru sat down next to them and rested his head against Kojiro’s broad shoulder.
