Work Text:

“Sam are u sure this is safe?”, Spoke Bucky towards his slightly shorter companion.
“Stop worrying old man.” Was the only response heard from the man’s companion on the matter as they stood over the edge of the cliff. The plan, to jump off with Sam’s wings, the goal, to get rid of Bucky’s fear of heights.
The taller brunette may not admit it, but Sam had known it all along in the way that Bucky spoke about old events involving heights with the taste of disgust and fear at the end of his tongue. Sam knew that Bucky was deadly afraid of heights and apparently to Steve there was no changing that. There never was a solution to the older man’s problem.
Now with Steve gone and Bucky finally admitting to his feelings to Sam. Sam knew that it was now his job and duty to get rid of this absent fear that lay in the back of the other man’s mind, no matter what. Even if that meant strapping his flight wings to the back of the other mans back and pushing him off the steepest cliff in their area and that’s what has led up to this point. The point in which the taller brunette stood at the edge of the cliff looking down disgusts and fear visible only in his eyes as his face lay stern to his companion.
“This is ridiculous.” Let out Bucky as he started to make his way back from across that edge, “I’m not doing this.”
“And why would that be? Scared Buck?”
“No, its just there is no purpose in doing this, when I could be doing stuff.”
“First of all, that’s a lie, Steve told me intel on you, so I know about your little vertical falling fear and second of all what stuff? You sitting in your apartment watching the tv on the floor, I don’t think so, lets get this over with.” Spoke the other man in response with exhausted gasps, he knew that his boyfriend wasn’t going to let this plan go smoothly.
“Fine” was all Bucky spoke until Sam could make out a mumbled, “Steve you snitch”
Both men once again made their way back over to the pinnacle of the cliff which led to the taller man’s worst agitation.
Both of them didn’t speak a word until Sam let out an annoyed sigh. “Well, are we going to do this?” was all he said looking to the other man for reassurance and watching for an signs of discontent.
“If I’m going down, you’re coming with me.” Said the Brooklyn man with newfound confidence in his voice. Sam looked to him with surprise, this honestly wasn’t what he was expecting but if it made the other man, his friend and partner, feel safer and made him get over his long-hidden fear then he would do it.
Sam made his way over to the wings that laid spread eagled on the ground waiting to be in flight and picked them up until he was fully strapped in. From here he could only see the back of his lover, yet he knew of the other mans anxiousness while he stood in wait for his boyfriend to throw them both of into the abyss that was laying in wait underneath the cliff. Bucky’s feet one by one kept raising off the ground and shuffling from side to side in an attempt to ground himself yet it just didn’t feel right until he felt a pressure surround his waist and until he felt Sam breath Grazing his neck.
Sam now stood behind him arms looped around his waist in a bear hold as if he never wanted to let go, his chin resting on Bucky’s shoulder.
“You sure about this Buck?” Spoke the bird man from behind him.
“I Trust you, but just don’t let go or I swear I won’t be as accepting.”
“Sure whatever” was Sam’s only response as he started the countdown.
3……2……..1……..
Bucky screwed his eyes closed as he could hear the shorter man’s countdown to horror and didn’t open them until he could feel the drop. The wind sweeping up from him. And the tight hold that his boyfriend kept on him, the hold that kept him safe in this moment as he finally opened his eyes as he nearly reached the ground from their slow glided descent that Sam had sent them upon.
Finally, both men’s feet had hit the ground as they let out a relieved breath that this had gone better that they had both thought. The grip around Bucky’s waist was realised as he was swiftly turned to face his tormenter, the bird man.
“You alright?” Was all he had to hear as he swiftly replied with a quick chaste kiss to the winged man’s lips in response.
“Ill take that as a yes then.” Was all that was said until their lips met once again with Bucky mumbling under his breath “It wasn’t that bad flying with you bird man.”
