Balancing Act

Summary:

The double toe joint finally comes into play. Too bad Aizawa was at home with a sick daughter, but then again, he might have never found out about the double toe joint. Because Class 1-A wouldn’t be wearing different types of heels, Class 1-A wouldn’t be forced to walk on a balance beam, Class 1-A wouldn’t have Kayama-Sensei as a substitute teacher that day.

Summary: The double toe joint finally comes into play.

~~Story Begins~~

Most of the guys in Class 1-A were in misery as their teacher laughed and they imagined the four knights of the apocalypse were running up behind them. Ilda and Shoji were using each other to stay upright, others like Kota and Todoroki had opted to sit on the floor until the exercise started, Kirishima and Kaminari were falling down like babies learning how to walk, and Aoyama, Bakugou, and Midoriya were just standing like normal which was weird, considering the situation.

“Why, most of you look like virgin little lambs, ooh how delightful,” their teacher - the R-rated hero Midnight- said at the start of their Heroics lesson. “Too bad that this is just the beginning of your pain for my viewing pleasure.”

“What does she mean by that?” Satou said being one of the ones sitting down. “I don’t like the sounds of that.”

“I would much rather have Aizawa-sensei with his logical ruses than this,” Sero said as his knees shook but he was still standing.

Midnight pulled back the black curtain to reveal twenty small beams that were raised in the air. “These are called balance beams and they were used in pre-quirk gymnastics.”

“Damnit,” Bakugou grumbled, his eyes glancing over to Midoriya quickly.

“We are going to practice your balances today because you may never know what type of shoes you’ll be wearing when a villain strikes or what type of surface you’ll have to run on. So while you are in the glorious heels that I - your beautiful teacher have graciously provided - you will be standing on the balance beams. Whoever lasts the longest will have a pass on any U.A. assignment during your time here at U.A. This way, you can go beyond Plus Ultra!” Midnight said as she cracked her whip. “Any questions?”

No one spoke.

“Excellent! Here are the rules. You must stay on the balance beam at all times unless you are feeling bold and want to do a jump or a flip. You cannot sit on the balance beam nor can your hands touch the beam at any time. If they do, then you’re out. If you fall off, then you’re out. You can walk about if you are bored because after every ten minutes, everyone who is still in will be required to walk from one end of the beam to the other.”

“What if the heel breaks?” Aoyama asked.

“Good question. If the head breaks then we will keep going because a villain isn’t going to stop. There shall also be no quirk usage to help yourself stay balanced or to knock a classmate off.”

“This is a total girl power assignment and I love it,” Hakagure said with a cheer.

“Yeah, I don’t know about that,” Jirou said as she was being held up by Yaoyorozu. “Midoriya, Bakugou, and Aoyama look comfortable in their heels. Also, I’m not very comfortable in my own heels.”

“Why are you three so comfortable in heels?” Ilda said before sighing. “And no, Todoroki, they are not Kayama-sensei’s secret love children.”

“My theories will be proven correct one day,” Todoroki said.

“Ilda didn’t even look or make eye contact with Todorki,” Yaoyorozu said, sounding scared and impressed.

The whip cracked again as Midnight licked her lips. “Everyone needs to get on their beams. You only have two minutes to get on the beams because you don’t want to keep a lady waiting too long.”

~~

Aizawa was at home, running his fingers through Eri’s hair as she slept on his lap. He had finished grading his classes assignments and was working on his lesson plans for the next two weeks when he received a text.

Nemuri: What the hell are you feeding the shrub?

Nemuri: Video attached

Nemuri: Like damn. Yaoyorozu came in third, Aoyama is apparently from a family of fashion models so he’s in second but Midoriya?

Nemuri: Damn.

“Nemuri, what did you have my students do?” Aizawa said under his breath as he clicked play on the video.

The back of Mina’s head instantly got in the camera view as he heard Kirishima mumble “so manly!” under his breath, Nemuri said “Yaoyorozu is now out leaving Aoyama and Midoriya left,” but Mina’s awe voice was the loudest.

“Midobae! Did you seriously just do the walking challenge with front flips and no hands?” Mina asked.

“Uh yeah? Bakugou did dare me too,” Midoriya said.

“But you are wearing heels and on such a skinny platform,” Shoji said as Mina’s head moved out of the view.

“I’ve never fallen through? At least by accident or due to clumsiness?” Midoriya said with a confused tone. “I’ve always had good balance. Mom says that as soon I knew how to stand by myself, I was walking and running within minutes without falling.”

Midoriya walked into view of the camera making Aizawa groan. His green haired student was in his P.E. uniform wearing green lobster claw heels and walking on the balance beam like he’s been doing it since he was breathing.

“Midoriya, go back to the side and do it again. If you fall, I’ll let you get back on. Aoyama, you can sit if you wish until Midoriya gets done,” Nemuri said.

“Uh..okay?”Midoriya said.

Instead of turning around at the edge, Midoriya started to do a back flip, his hands not touching the beam. He did that until he reached the other side and the whole class started to freak out as the video ended.

Aizawa: He came like that.

Aizawa held back a chuckle before he leaned back with his eyes closed. Zero to Hero was most definitely his problem child and the double toe joint confirmed his suspicions that his problem child was born quirkless. So how did he gain his quirk? This must be why Nedzu invited him into this group chat and with All Might being a part of this group chat, that raises the question if All Might was also born quirkless again and if he was, how did he gain his quirk? Who were the other two mysterious users of the chat and were they also born quirkless? If so, why have they been so welcoming of him when he was born with his quirk? Shouldn’t they hate him?
