I stared at my phone and swiped over the screen to make sure I didn't call the wrong number, after bringing the device back to my ear the same melodic beeping that was followed by the monotone voice of the female operator that repeated the line from earlier. I let my phone slide out of my hands, saw it falling down on the free spot besides me, the same spot that was occupied by the person I tried to reach now.
Everytime I look back at this moment, I relive the same helpless emotion of not understanding how everything could fall into ruins within the span of a few hours.
