It's the night she’s been waiting for.
The Perennial Banquet is as beautiful as it is rumored to be, and Fleur Delacour takes her time observing the decorations as she enters the ballroom.
It’s a night for the “who’s who”, dignitaries, ranking council members, famous singers and athletes, the occasional prince.
Fleur weaves in between guests, waving off old war comrades, managing to avoid an interview with Witch Weekly about her dress robes, until she spots her. Spots Angelina Johnson.
Angelina is dressed impeccably in fitting navy and gold accented robes that cling to her body, a high-slit showing off the sculpt of Angelina’s gorgeous legs. As Captain and lead scorer of Puddlemere United, she ranks high on the list of famous attendees here. For Fleur, she’s the only attendee here.
Fleur crosses the room. Her eyes trained on Angelina, her adrenaline pumping harder than two hours ago when she signed the last line of her divorce papers.
“Angelina,” Fleur interrupts the conversation. She could care less if Angelina were speaking with the Prime Minister.
Angelina, always graceful, turns around, her dress fanning out, her gold earring shimmering. She's beautiful.
“Fleur,” Angelina greets in hello, a bright smile widening her face. A smile Fleur has accepted that she cannot live without.
“Angelina Johnson, would you do the honor of dancing with me?”
For a moment Angelina stills, and Fleur feels as though the world is stilling too. And then she nods.
In front of everyone, with eyes around, Angelina takes her hand. Fleur lets out an unexpected sigh and leads Angelina to the dancefloor.
The dance is not fancy. They sway in each other's arms, but Fleur is content as one song turns to two, then three, and more pass by in the background.
“I can’t believe I get to hold you,” Angelina whispers, pulling back so she can look up at Fleur.
Fleur has no words but to lean in and softly kiss Angelina’s lips.
She does so proudly, in front of the who’s who, and the war heroes, and the foreign royalty.
Fleur brims with joy knowing the life she is about to start with Angelina.
It’s the night she’s been waiting for.
