Comfort omega

Summary:

"What happened? Are you alright?"

"Yes, of course! It's not about me this time. It's one of the heroes who works at the same agency as me. He's a friend, even though he doesn't want to admit it." She chuckles, then glances at the bank's front door nervously. "I don't know what's going on with him exactly. He was alright this morning."

"I don't think he's ever received help from a comfort omega before," one paramedic cuts in, looking down at her tablet. "And if he doesn't have a mate it's most likely that his inner alpha has been accumulating stress and anger until... Well, until now."

"He also has anger issues," Uravity adds. "Although he's been working on them."

Izuku sighs; stubborn alphas are the worst, he's probably one of the few ones who doesn't trust comfort omegas.

"Alright, I'll go. Who's the pro hero by the way? You mentioned he was one of the best, Uravity."

"Dynamight."

Chapter Text

Izuku and his co-workers always arrive after the battle ends; his job as a comfort omega is to calm down unmated alphas that are about to lose control. Most of the time they're pro heroes who snapped after a very stressful situation.

It's usually after a big disaster so it surprises Izuku when he sees a couple of other omegas, scared and nervous outside a bank; it seems it was just a robbery, but the alpha is hurt inside and he refuses to get help, he's also acting quite aggressive to anyone who gets close to him.

Izuku doesn't understand.

"I'm so glad you're here, Midoriya!" Uravity waves at him with a relieved smile on her face. The omega immediately grins back; she's one of the best pro heroes he's ever met, he's helped her relax before as well, even though she's a beta.

"Has he hurt anyone?"

"No, of course not!" Uravity says immediately. "He would never! He's just pacing around inside the building, scowling and growling to himself. He seems to be in some sort of trance."

"Now, in these extreme cases I'd sedate him, but he snarls at anyone who gets too close to him. Besides, he's one of the best pro heroes and has a very powerful quirk." The paramedic explains, which only makes things look like they're even worse than Izuku imagined. He even notices some of his own coworkers around.

"What about the other omegas?"

"He growls at them as well."

"But why did you call me? I mean, if the others haven't succeeded I don't see why–"

"Because you're the best, Midoriya," Eraserhead walks towards them, startling the omega a little bit. "You managed to get Todoroki to listen to you when we were having that battle a couple of weeks ago and encouraged him to use his fire quirk."

The omega blushes to the tip of his ears, getting compliments from one of the best heroes out there, someone he admires, it's a little bit too much. But he tries to focus anyway.

He doesn't think he deserves the compliment though, Shoto is a very nice alpha and he just reacted in a good way to Izuku's scent.

However, there's probably no time to argue about that.

"Alright... I'll go. Who's the pro hero by the way? You mentioned he was one of the best, Uravity."

"Dynamight."

Oh no, Izuku pales. It's not going to work. Bakugo Katsuki was his childhood friend before he started bullying Izuku out of nowhere. The omega is pretty sure that alpha hated him, maybe he still does even though they haven't seen each other in years.

He turns around to try to explain why it's a bad idea when he meets Eraserhead intense gaze. It's not fair, that man was never Izuku's teacher and yet he feels like he knows him, like he knows the omega is about to give up before even trying and feels disappointed because of it.

Izuku sighs, touches his own glands to make his body release more scent before he walks in.

It seems like there's no one else around, which is a relief because the smell of stress and fear in civilians usually distracts him from his main task.

Bakugo looks even taller in person and way stronger; Izuku knows that most of his aggressive attitude is related to his biology as a prime alpha.

Despite what happened between them, Izuku has forgiven him already, he had to, in order to move on from his past; he also forgave his other bullies a while ago.

It seems he hasn't noticed him yet; he's still pacing around, left arm moving uselessly at his side, it can be because it's broken or just due to the injury that's causing him to bleed.

After taking a deep breath, Izuku takes a few steps closer, releasing a calming scent that works like a charm because the alpha stops and turns around quickly.

Izuku prays he doesn't remember him.

"Dynamight, I'm a comfort omega and I'm here to–"

"Deku?"

Oh no.

It's alright, he'll be fine, the worst thing that can happen is that Bakugo refuses to get help from him, which is most likely at this point. The pro hero doesn't look that bad actually... His eyes are not completely white, which means that he's still in control, not his inner alpha.

"What are you doing here?" Bakugo takes a few steps towards him until he's right in front of Izuku.

"I just told you. I'm a comfort omega and I'm here to help," he mumbles, looking right into Bakugo's eyes. He's still releasing a calming scent, trying to look relaxed, even though the situation is far from ideal.

"Tch! You're one of those omegas? I told them I don't need their help and I definitely don't want them to touch me!"

He looks irritated, but at least he's not yelling so Izuku decides to count it as progress...

"There are other ways to comfort someone. I won't touch you if you don't want to. We can sit on the ground and talk. Actually, it's alright if you don't want me to help you, but you must go to the paramedics, your arm doesn't look good."

Bakugo grimaces at first, but his demeanor changes suddenly; his nostrils flare like he's finally recognizing the omega's scent before looks into Izuku's green eyes with mixed emotions.

"I'm sorry." He finally mumbles. Izuku tries not to look surprised but it's really hard.

"It's alright. It's common for alphas to get irritated in these kind of situations. You must be–"

"No," Bakugo cuts him off, shoulders relaxing as he takes another step closer to Izuku and his cheeks turn slightly pink. "I meant for what I did before. When we were in middle school. I'm sorry about that, I truly am."

The omega blinks, trying to focus. There's no time to think about the reasons behind the apology.

"I already forgave you," Izuku whispers, looking away. This is getting too personal. As a comfort omega he must make sure nothing gets out of hand with the alphas that need his help. "Now–"

"Of course you did," Bakugo rolls his eyes, half irritated, half amused. "However, I still want to make it up to you."

"There's no need, Dynamight."

Bakugo grimaces at his own hero name for some reason. Izuku tries to ignore it.

"I'm going to make it up to you."

The omega stops himself from rolling his eyes; they probably won't see each other after that so it's okay.

"Do you feel good enough to walk outside and let the paramedics–"

"I... I don't want them to touch me," Bakugo almost growls and Izuku can feel his inner alpha protesting at the suggestion as well. It's more than clear that he's not completely fine yet.

"Okay. It's okay," Izuku smiles at him, trying not to look at the hero's arm with worry.

"How does the comforting thing work?"

"I usually take the alpha's hand, get close to them and try to make them feel better by nuzzling against them or running my fingers through their hair. But if you don't like physical contact, we can just talk."

"Do you do this for other alphas?" Bakugo frowns, irritation clear in his scent, his inner alpha is really upset about something at the moment, almost angry.

"Yes, that's my job!"

The alpha huffs, but doesn't say anything else about that. Suddenly, after having an internal battle with himself, Bakugo sits on the ground; by the way his eyes close, his arm must be hurting a lot.

"It's alright if I ask you to sit on my lap?"

The omega tries to focus, but he's too surprised not to blink a couple of times in confusion. Bakugo has certainly changed, he's more considerate or at least he's trying to be. The other thing that puzzles Izuku is that he thought the alpha didn't enjoy physical contact and yet he's waiting for Izuku to sit on his lap.

"Yes, a-alright," he shouldn't be nervous, it's really common for other alphas to want to be close to an omega, Izuku has done this before. It shouldn't be different. It's definitely not different at all!

Taking a deep breath, Izuku decides to pretend Bakugo is just another alpha. He sits on the other's lap and looks up at him with a smile.

The pro hero's cheeks turn slightly pink again.

Focusing on his scent, on the tension he can smell on him, Izuku rubs their noses together.

"Is this alright?"

"It's more than okay," Bakugo mumbles, closing his eyes to enjoy the sensation. His inner alpha purrs. His scent is responding quite well to Izuku's.

Strong fingers touch the back of his head and the next thing the omega knows is that Bakugo is bringing their foreheads together.

"I'm sorry for not apologizing before, I should've looked for you–"

"It's okay," Izuku cuts him off. Why does Bakugo keep making everything too personal?

"I'm sorry, Izuku," he mumbles again before burying his face in the curve of the omega's neck. "You smell really good. You must be a prime omega."

Izuku can't help but chuckle. He's the most plain, normal omega that has ever existed. He's so boring he was born quirkless as well.

"I'm not."

"You're wrong," Bakugo argues, prompting Izuku to roll his eyes. Instead of saying something else, he pulls apart (prompting Bakugo to pout) to look at the alpha in the eyes.

"How are you feeling? Do you think we can walk outside now? Everyone must be worried..."

"Not yet, let me just..." Bakugo leans closer before nuzzling against Izuku's cheek. He sighs, looking a lot better. "Alright, let's go."

Before they walk past the entrance, Bakugo stops and turns around to stare at Izuku again; he looks genuinely worried.

"I don't want to hurt anyone," he confesses. It must have been really hard for him to say those words. Well, the Bakugo he used to know would have never admitted something like that.

"You won't," Izuku assures him, taking his good hand and intertwining their fingers together. "Trust me."

Bakugo nods, looks at their hands and pulls Izuku outside the building. Uravity glances with concern at Izuku, but calms down as soon as the omega smiles at her.

The paramedic asks a couple of questions to the pro hero before she starts patching him up; the alpha tenses for a moment, but relaxes when Izuku tugs his hand gently.

When she's done, the omega let's go of Bakugo's hand and takes a couple of steps back as two police officers get closer to ask about the robbery, Uravity has joined them as well.

"De-Izuku, wait for me," the alpha says quickly before turning back to face the officers again. Uravity quirks up her brows at him and even Eraserhead is a little bit curious about it.

However, Izuku is tired and needs to go back to his apartment to process everything that just happened. He doesn't have the time or the energy to explain why an alpha is using his first name to address him; it's against the rules, alphas and comfort omegas are not supposed to get attached.

Which, fortunately, is not the case between Bakugo and him. Besides, the pro hero probably doesn't know the rules since it's more than obvious this is his first time accepting help from a comfort omega.

He looks around, realizing that no one is looking at him and sneaks away; he knows Bakugo wanted to tell him something, but Izuku is not in the mood and it's not like they'll see each other again anyway.
