Chapter 1: Trapped

Chapter Text

Aaaand, there goes another year. I’m officially 10, double digits. And yet another year goes by where nothing has changed. Izuku Midoriya sits, staring at a clock that just hit midnight. He knew if his mother found him awake right now she would beat him senseless. It’s just how she was. If you couldn’t follow her rules, she would make you. Staying up past your bedtime would qualify for a couple kicks and a few hours locked in the closet.

He heard shuffling of feet outside his door and he quickly jumped under the covers, quietly as possible. She opened his door for her nightly bed check. All she saw was her now ten year old son peacefully sleeping. But only she knew that wouldn’t last for long. For she had a plan to follow.

Beep Beep Beeeee- Izuku slammed his hand onto the top of the clock before rolling out of bed onto the cold floor, the only effective way to move his exhausted body out of bed. Making his bed, he moved to his closet to grab his uniform only to find it missing. That's strange. He remembers hanging it back up last night. He quickly rummaged through his closet and underneath his bed, wondering if maybe he had forgotten for once. He was only halfway through his dresser when he heard her.

“Ahem! What do you think you are doing young man?” Inko belted as she entered her only son's room. She had her hair pulled up and you could obviously tell she had just gotten back from the gym because of the sweat shorts she was wearing.

“G-g-getting r-ready for s-school m-ma’am. I-it s-s-seems I m-must’ve m-misplaced m-my uniform. I-I will f-find it soon.” Izuku mumbled, trying his hardest to not stutter, but utterly failing. Inko hated his stutter. Said since he was already a useless quirkless freak, he better have some backbone to stand up for himself.

“Ugh you useless brat, I told you this yesterday, you ten now. School is no longer your top priority. You dropped out as of this morning.”

WHAT?! Dropped out? Why would she do this, his education was the only thing he was good at? She gestured for him to follow her out to the car, and he did. He was sulking at this point, pondering where he would get in life without finishing middle school. Maybe he could enroll into an online school just to finish. She didn’t have to know, he could use one of the public library computers and login and out every time. He could tell her he was just going for a long walk.

The drive was nearing an hour long when Izuku looked up from the floor of the car and saw where they were. The rundown corner of the city, ridden with crime and barren from heroes. He felt his heart drop when he saw a little girl being beaten in an alleyway, but he knew his mother would end him herself if he bothered with trying to be a hero.

Inko Midoriya hated heroes. With a burning passion. He could only assume it was because she committed illegal activities like beating her son. He once dreamed of being a hero, saving lives is something he had been pulled toward his entire life. But once Inko found out, she chained him down in the basement and repeatedly kicked him until he admitted that the heroes were all fakes. Of course he didn’t believe it. He could never hate heroes. But to his mother, heroes were the worst of the worst to him. Nothing but footscum that left an ugly smell.

The car abruptly stopped and Inko jumped out, only to turn around and drag Izuku out of the backseat. Scrambling, he got onto his feet and followed her wherever she was headed. They walked into what looks like an abandoned bar, but once inside, it most definitely was not abandoned. The furniture was not luxury, but it was on the nicer side. The most middle class thing he has seen since he entered this district. He saw a teenager with gray hair hanging out behind the bar talking over the phone with someone.

“Hey Tomura, hand me the phone, the brat is here.” He handed over the phone before looking Izuku directly in the eyes.

“One day, you’ll be my loyal asset. But that's not until sensei fixes you. This world has no room for quirkless brats like you.” He ranted, obviously so self absorbed to not realize that Izuku could only focus on the screaming sound coming from another area, could be  in a basement or it could be a completely different place. Either way, he did not want to be here. He would rather get beat than continue to be in this awful place.

“M-ma’am, I’m scared. I want to go home.” He mumbled, hoping the scary teen didn’t hear him. She looked angrily behind him, still on the phone with the unknown person. She quickly covered the phone with her hand and turned to face him.

“Don’t you get it Izuku?!! This is your new home. Your father has finally agreed that you are ready.”

His father? He hasn’t met the man before, let alone wanted to. Now he was supposed to live with him in this dingy place? Ready for what? All these questions ran through his little noggin and Inko finally hung up. A portal appeared out of thin air and she dragged him over to it before throwing him in, little more than a ragdoll in her hands. He landed on rough concrete rolling a few times before stopping. He got up, wiping his knees clear of debris. He heard a heavy breathing behind him and he swiftly turned to face the person he believed was his father. But before he got the chance, he was hit smack dab across his face and immediately knocked out.

Izuku woke up in an entirely empty environment. It didn’t mean that the room was empty, but that the room was so plain of personality that it felt like he was thrown into a computer with no feeling. No, a computer would at least have color. He tried getting up, but he soon found out he was chained down to the seat he was laying on. He started to panic.

What was going on? Then the door slid open and two people in white lab coats and masks. One a woman and the other a man from what he could tell. They saw him awake and immediately started to walk over to the computer next to him.

“You should most definitely be passed out right now. Let me fix this real quick. We can’t fix you if you are awake and screaming.” They upped the amount of drugs he was on through a tube he hadn’t realized he was connected to. He felt the world quickly turned black again and was once again faced with the empty darkness that was his brain.

After a while he woke again, but not in the same room, but it seemed more like he was conscious, but only in his head. He was stuck. He looked around to find out what woke him and his question was very quickly answered. He saw it. A glowing orb that was slowly moving towards him. Very quickly. It soon reached him and he tried dodging, but he found it curved to where he went. And in that instant, the brief feeling of consciousness was wiped away and he was once again out like a light.

This time, Izuku knew he was back in the real world considering the deep feeling of pain covering his entire body. He was no longer chained down, but he could see he was in somewhat of a cell, all alone. Even though there were no chains anymore, he didn’t want to move his body. One inch of movement was equivalent to what he imagined getting hit by a bus felt like. So he was just left to lay there, helpless and confused. What did he do to deserve this? He was so confused and didn’t know what was going on. The only thing he hoped and wished for was a hero. Someone to get him out of this place and hold him tight. Maybe All Might would save him! Then he could get his autograph!

No one saved him, at least by the end of the day. He heard someone walk in to find it was the kids mother. She looked at least a little happy, and was carrying food. As she walked in, she inspected Izuku’s body.

“Hmm, you're still intact. Shocking. I guess you are worth something little brat. Well you better get used to this pain, your fathers even more of a stickler for rules.” She unlocked the cage and set the plate of mushy food before leaving. It doesn’t even look edible, but if there is one thing Izuku has learned, it is to never refuse food, as you don’t know when your next meal is coming. Fighting the pain, Izuku reached over and started shoveling the food into his mouth like a wild animal. It was horrible, but neglecting his needs would not help with the healing process. He decided after eating that if he was going to be in these conditions for a long time, he would at least keep his mind in tip top shape. He took a metal rod from the bedframe and started using it to scrape letters into the floor. They were sloppy considering the poor writing utensil, but when he was done, he had successfully done his homework onto the floor of the cell.

And that was how the next two weeks went. Him writing on the floor everything from geometry class that he could remember, and Inko bringing him food twice a day. He slowly regained enough strength that he could freely move his body without feeling too much pain. He was extremely bored, and at this point, filthy. But one day, something changed.

“And the easiest way to find the area of a circle is-” Suddenly the same two people from the plain room barged in, unlocking the cell and grabbing onto his arms. Out of reflex, he starts kicking and screaming, unknown to what is going on. They drag him into a few hallways. He tries to keep track and note the halls and which way they turned for the future. If he ever got taken out of his cell again maybe he could escape and return to a normal life. They eventually reached a room with big metal doors. Inside, stood Inko, holding a knife. His eyes widened and he immediately knew that the feeling he just got back in his body was no longer going to be there.

As soon as he was set down on the floor, Inko got to work. She didn’t even flinch when he started screaming. She did, however, flinch a bit when suddenly a green translucent bubble appeared around him and sent her flying back a bit. She smiled and pulled out her phone and dialed a number. Probably the poor excuse of his father.

I-I have a quirk? Izuku was astonished at this recent development. Is that what his mother had meant when she said he would fix him? How in the world did they manage to do that? If they could do that, why didn’t she have her father ‘fix’ him when he was younger?

All these questions ran through his mind, and before he knew it, the shield fell and Inko had slapped a quirk canceling collar around his neck.

“You may finally have a quirk, but you're still a useless brat!” She kicked him hard in the stomach, which hurt like a bitch after all the cutting she did around there. He looked down and saw his brown shirt was quickly getting darker. A doctor ran in and ordered his team to pick up. Something about not letting the experiment end here?
