Let me rest

Summary:

Note to self: never let the other talk you into this again.
Senkuu was about to turn around to leave when he heard a familiar voice.
“Thank you thank you,” Senkuu didn’t instantly recognize it so he turned and saw Gen in the middle of a crowd that had formed around him. “Now sir, think of a number between 1 and 10, now times that number by 2,” a simple math trick. Pretty simple actually. Whatever the original number was it would just end up being 64. “Was your number 64?” Gen smiled.

Notes:

Happy birthday Nini!!

Work Text:

An after-finals party Chrome called it.

Something to relax after the stress of finals.

Come on Senkuu,” Chrome pushed the subject. “It’ll be fun,”

“I don’t really see how a party after finals will be fun,” Senkuu retorted, making clear his dislike of partied in general. “Plus isn’t Ryusui known for over the top parties?”Senkuu questioned.

“Well yrah but-,” Chrome tried to think or a response.

“Gen will be there,” Taiju chimed in.

“And?” Senkuu tried to brush off like he wasn’t reconsidering going or not.

“I thought you liked-,” Taiju started to say.

“I’ll go!” Senkuu cut him off before he had a chance to finish th rest of that sentence.

Even in that big of a on-campus coffee shop Senkuu beat at least most students knew of Gen Asagiri. Having a crush on the ‘celebrity’ going to the university was nothing new. Plenty of people liked him. Senku just didn’t want word getting back to Gen he was one of them. Not when it was just a small crush. Would most likely blow over in a month or two.

“Yay!” Chrome definitely had something planned but Senkuu was too tired to care. “And trust me Senkuu, we won’t leave your side,” He promised.

Senkuu still didn’t see how this was supposed to be relaxing. At least studying for a test had a pattern he could make out. He had turned studying into almost a science. Everything had its place and made sense. (Plus the lack of loud blaring music Senkuu could hear from 100s of meters away)

As Senkuu walked up to the party it looked almost infested with people behind the house gate.

I know there are a lot of people at our school but still-

Senkuu leaned on the gate to the house and continued to check his phone for any message that Chrome and Taiju were there but nothing. Senkuu sighed and went to check his email since he had the time. Senkuu tried to follow along with the words on the screen but his eyes kept trying to close. Trying to get a wink of sleep. (literally)

Even the loud blaring music couldn't help keep him awake. Senkuu tried to hide his yawn in his elbow but it was the kind of yawn where it feels like all the air has been sucked right out.

What am I even doing? Coming to a house party dead tired, and for what? Because of the mentalist?

Kinda felt like one of those realizations you get in the middle of the night. The “what the hell am I doing?”

“Hey Senkuu!” Senkuu craned his head up to look up the far away voice calling him.

-or not so far away. Taiju and Chrome were practically right next to him. He just didn’t hear them over the music. “Hey,” Senkuu put his phone in his back pocket.

“Fun party huh?” Taiju smiled.

“Yeah- fun,” Senkuu cleaned out his ear with his pinky.

If Senkuu couldn’t see Taiju clearly screaming Senkuu would think he was speaking at his normal level.

“You ok Senkuu? You look tired,” Chrome pointed out.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Senkuu found himself shouting as well to be heard over the music. “Just tried from studying!”

“Huh?”

“I’m fine!”

“Oh ok! That’s good!” Chrome put his thumb up.

“Let’s go then!” Taiju pumped his fist up.

“Woooh!” Chrome joined in.

Taiju hooked his arms around his friends and in they went.

Guess we’re doing this.

Senkuu looked at the house again as the three walked up. A bunch of people all doing their own thing. No pattern at all.

“Ahh there you guys are!”Another voice greeted.

“Oh hey Man,” Chrome replied. “Sorry were late,”

“Nahhh don’t worry about it,” Ryusui brushed it off. “I’m more surprised you actually got Senkuuu to come,” Ryusui teased.

“Well you know with Senkuu’s crush on-,” Taiju started.

“Enough,” Senkuu was too tired to retaliate more. “I’m just going to steal food and leave,”

“Ahahhah!! Honest was always,” Ryusui pat Senkuu on the back with a slight tease tohis tone. “Well since you aren’t here to see Gen. The food is inside,” Ryusui pointed.

Senkuu chose to ignore the clear sinister looks on his friend’s face. What was the worse thing that could happen? Slip in, get some of the fancy food, and fo home and sleep for a week. (Maybe check this hearing for any hearing loss after)

Somehow the inside was more crowded than the outside. The amount of “excuses me” Senkuu had to mutter his breath as he looked the food Ryusui promised.

What are the chances that bastard lied to me.

Senkuu sighed and even the air in the room felt stuffy. Slight smell of artificial sweetness that came with alcohol in the air.

“Wow,”

“Woah”

“How?”

Small woahs came from the crowd despite the predictable answer.

Disputes Senkuu previous plan, he stepped closer to the crowd to watch Gen as well. Try to just blend in with the crowd as he watched.

“Oh Senkuu chan!”- And that failed. Gen waved him over.

A few of the eyes went to Senkuu as he walked up. “Hey mentalist,” Senkuu quietly sighed.

“Care to join in?” Gen pointed to a spot in the couch in front of him.

Senkuu thought about saying no and following the original plan but- “sure,” Senkuu shrugged.

Senkuu sat at the spot on the couch. He still felt a few eyes on him.

“Erfect pay~” Gen clapped his hands together. “Now I need do something really special for a scientist like you,” Despite the others, it felt like all of Gen’s attention was on Senkuu. “Now think of a shape,”
“A shape?” Senkuu slightly yawned a response.

“Yup a simple one will do. Like a square, but since I used that as an example, not that of course,”
Easy. A diamond.

“Got it,”
“Now think of a shape that fits in that shape,” Gen hummed.

Triangle.

“Well then Senkuu chan, were you thinking of a circle in a triangle?” Gen questioned.

It wasn’t close to what Senkuu was thinking off.

“You win mentalist,” A smile crossed Gen’s face. It was worth shallowing a bit of this pride for. “Care to explain how you did it?”

“Well where would be the fun in that?” Gen sang. “Anyone else wants to volunteer?”

A few hands raised. Senkuu watched as Gen performed a few simple tricks for the crowd, the whole time watching him to try and understand the tricks behind it. As Senkuu watched Gen’s hand wave around he got more and more tired. He was meant just to lean his head back for a bit. His body was so heavy and he just needed a second to rest his eyes.

Or maybe a bit longer than a second or two.

Senkuu felt his eyes water slightly as he fought not to wake up. He snuggled up more to the thing he was resting on. It felt like a comfy fabric. Senkuu was so tired he hadn’t even realized the way his body was orientated until a few seconds after. He was still sitting up and not laying down on some kind of bed. Plus the loud (Now somewhat muffled) music. He was still at the party then.

Then what the hell am I resting on?
Senkuu looked up and what he was resting on and was greeted with a face.

“Morning Senkuu chan,” It was Gen.

“Aww shit,” Senkuu got up. “How long was I out?” Senuu tried to play it off.

“A few minutes at most,” Gen replied.

“Shit,” Senkuu groaned. “Where did everyone go?”

“I told them to leave so you could rest,”
“Why did you do that?” Senkuu rumbled his eyes.

“I was running out of material anyway,” Gen answered.

“Kuku and here I thought you were being considerate,” Senkuu teased.

“Me? Like you don’t even know me,” Gen sang.

“I know you plenty,” Senkuu said before he noticed before he had time to think out his reply.

“Ohh?” Gen grinned. “How well is that?”

“Yeah yeah I’m tired,” Senkuu brushed off the smug tone. “I”m saying random shit,”
“Of course of course,”

“I’ll get going then. Don’t really feel like sleeping here ya know,” Senkuu stood up.

“Oh? Was I not comfortable enough for you?” Gen pretended to be hurt.

“I-,” Senkuu had no idea how to reply.

“I’m kidding Senkuu chan,” Gen chuckled a bit. “Get your rest,”

“Yeah-, See ya,” Senkuu got up from the sofa.

“Oh yeah Senkuu chan,”

“Yeah?”
“Triagle in a diamond,”
“Huh?”

“That’s what you were thinking of right?” Gen smiled.
