   "The need to protect Regulus from harm, from anything that would threaten him, has become a near obsession. James knows that he has a habit of single mindedness, latching on to things so tightly that they consume him. Of all of his unruly fixations, his protectiveness of Regulus has proven to be the worst."

   Trilogy of Marauders era/Hogwarts AU + after school (1975-1982), focused fully on James and Regulus POVs. Canon-divergent (adjacent if you squint), but the path to defeating Voldemort lies not in the prophecy but in Regulus' hands.
