"Scara this isn't about you- it's about us, okay..-? i just..really..can't stand how you're so cold towards- towards me." you blurted out, your voice slightly higher pitch as you continued to speak.
Scaramouche just scoffed, and glared at you.
"You knew that when we got together. Don't act like it's so surprising." He said, coldly.
You stared at him in disbelief.
"You're right. I knew, But it's not just about that. It's about the fact that you wouldn't even bat an eyelid, before you go off and do something- unreasonable, despite the fact that you know it'll hurt me! I'm your partner, for gods sake. I- I'm not unfeeling, Scara...- I have feelings, okay..? I can't stand this anymore." your volume was still neutrel, but the urgency and tone of your voice was the same as yelling.
"Feelings are nothing but distractions. I have no time for such trivial matters. In other words, i don't care." He raised his voice slightly, in an attempt to scare you.
This was it. He really didn't care, did he?
You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. This was so absurd, you even laughed once. Your was blood boiling.
You turned around, and walked towards the door.
"Fine. Have it your way."
You said, your voice dripping with venom, as you silently walked out of your mansion.
Scaramouche didn't watch you as you left, but he felt emptier than usual when he saw you leave. He, however, refused to acknowledge it, and looked away, walking towards the kitchen.
The walls felt like they were talking to him, telling him how he fucked up really bad this time, but he just shut them out, and ignored his gut feeling to chase after you. This time when you stormed out, he felt weird. Something was wrong, he felt like he had just lost a part of himself, forever.
He wanted to run after you and make sure you didn't leave him, but his pride and ego wouldn't let him.
He assumed you'd come back by tonight, as you always did.
But no, this time, you didn't return.
You had found an Inazuma inn to stay at, and you booked a two weeks stay.
You needed some time to unwind and calm down. You needed a break from your boyfriend.
"My oh so high and mighty boyfriend who didn't even bother to give a damn about me or my feelings..." you muttered, when you walked into your inn room. It had a cozy feel, and it was adorned with pretty decorations, fairy lights strung around the room. The floor was made of smooth Maple wood, and the room had a pleasant sweet smell. It was like a dream.
Unfortunately, you had nobody right now to share this experience with.
Back at the Mansion, Scaramouche was slightly alarmed when it reached 12am, and you still weren't home. Not that he'd actually even talk to you if you went home. He was a petty guy. He would ignore you after every argument, even if you tried to talk to him or do something nice. He would even refuse to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with you, until he decided to speak to you again.
Maybe it is better that you decided to take a break from him.
The next morning, Scaramouche awoke, just to realise your side of the bed was still untouched. Did you even come home? Or had you left early?
He scoffed, as he got out of bed, brushing it off, still thinking you'd come back soon.
The day passed, and no sign of you.
You had spent the whole day exploring the inn, drinking exquisite drinks, and eating delicious food. The Miso soup was probably one of the best things you had ever tasted.
You had a much more enjoyable day, compared to Scaramouche.
His day was dull, scolding his subordinates...paper work...boring meetings..and that was pretty much it.
When he got back to the mansion, after work, he didn't see you.
His day really was so terrible.
He couldn't even get that feeling of joy, that he would never admit he usually got when he saw you, sitting on the couch, mindlessly flicking through television channels, waiting for him to come home.
Where exactly had you gone..?
The night passed slowly, as Scaramouche restlessly tossed and turned, tired, but unable to sleep.
He couldn't seem to sleep at all, actually.
His heart kept telling him he had to go find you, but he refused to let his pride go.
Days passed, and Scaramouche couldn't help but feel you were ignoring him. He wasn't used to this. It was always him who ignored you, not the other way around, and he didn't like it.
Once your stay at the Inn was over, you reluctantly trudged your way back into your shared Mansion.
Scaramouche noticed the door open, from the corner of his eye, and he heard the unmistakable sound of your footsteps. He felt the urge to just run up to you and hug you, but he couldn't just do that...
He froze, tensing up, as he sat up straight in the couch.
You were back?
He didn't know what to say, as you completely ignored him, and walked off towards the bedroom door.
He didn't want you to leave though.
"...Y/N..." He mumbled, reluctantly. He didn't want to be the first one to speak. But it felt like he had no control over his actions, and he couldn't even stop himself before he said it.
You froze, hand on the bedroom door knob.
He glanced at your back, and his heart sank, his chest aching.
"..what.." you replied, your voice cold.
What is this feeling..?
He couldn't say anything else, as he covered his face, and he could only mumble your name.
"...y/n..."
He heard you open the bedroom door, and walk in.
What was he even supposed to do now?
Out of nowhere, when you turned around to walk back out of the bedroom, you were face to face with Scaramouche.
You didn't even have time to react, when he suddenly pulled you in, and tightly hugged you.
You gasped softly, as you felt his cold arms around your body.
He hugged you so tightly, as if you were going to disappear and walk away from him again.
It was now then he realised just how much he had missed you over the time you left him alone.
He sighed quietly in relief, as he finally had you in his arms again.
You could hear his heart thumping in his chest, at the thought of being so close to you.
His heart ached at the thought of you leaving him again.
"...don't leave me..." he spoke, softly, and squeezed you tighter, his face buried in your shoulder.
He felt like you were going to disappear any second now, and he never wanted to let you go.
You soon snapped back into reality, and instinctively hugged him back.
You ruffled the hair at the back of his head, as he still hid his face in your shoulder.
"...i'm...not going anywhere.." you assured him, kissing the top of his head.
He lifted his head off your shoulder, and looked you in the eyes.
In his eyes, you could see a flicker of vulnerability, and the coldness that usually resided rent-free in his pupils was nowhere to be found.
"kuni...?" You questioned, smiling softly at him.
His heart fluttered when you called him by that nickname. He loved it. Though he would never tell you such, of course.
"..don't...i'm not weak. i don't...have...feelings." he said, trying to put on his cold facade again, but unable to completely cover his true feelings.
You chuckled, and kissed his cheek.
"...i missed you too, love.."
