Summary
Sometimes it is a whisper at the back of his mind - screaming at a distance - and he can focus on other matters. Sometimes it is a burn under his skin, and nothing more. Sometimes he feels it like an itch of a memory you remember forgetting.
Sometimes it wakes him in the middle of the night, a scream at the back of his throat that he doesn’t let loose. Sometimes it burns and burns and burns like soulfire, bright and blazing and clear. Sometimes he feels like he almost remembers what it was like to die.
