   Summary

   Liberty and democracy had lost all meaningfulness, and only the Jedi's tenuous control of the military through the loyalty they command from the clones in the absence of a legitimate Supreme Chancellor kept the Republic from sinking into complete chaos as everyone tried to deal with the end of the civil war and the death of their Chancellor accused of treason by the Jedi.

   As a newly widowed mother, Padmé is faced with increasingly uncomfortable choices in defending what she has always believed in, while voices are raised against the Jedi, threatening what her husband has always held so dear.

   Wherever he was, Padmé hoped that Anakin was watching over her and their children, for the Force knew how much she would need it.
