about their arrival,

Work Text:

Sometimes, Venti stops to think, he thinks of his friends over the years,

He thinks of the child who taught him freedom, he thinks of Vanessa, the young warrior of whom he fought with, he thinks of the traveler.

He thinks of the star, walking amongst the people of Teyvat.

He thinks of the star’s sadness, of its mournful demeanor.

just how would a star mourn? Venti wonders,

How would a being billions of years old, mourn a lost one?

Would it succumb to its own flames, burning itself to ash in grief?

Would it dim, only to burn back brighter than before?

Or would it cease to exist, leaving an absence of space where it once was?

Would it leave behind a black hole, to suck everything in, yet always be far too empty and wrong?

Sometimes, venti thinks, when he looks into the traveler’s eyes, he sees eyes once so bright in every way, the energy that was present not so long ago; he sees what was once present in this Star’s eyes, what was once a wonder to behold, and yet, that spark of light has been gone for far too long.

When he looks into the traveler’s eyes, he sees not but weary, bone deep, complete, and utter exhaustion on the blonde’s face.

It’s a pain filled expression.

The traveler is not of Teyvat, that much Venti has known since they had fallen upon that beach, on that day that seems to be far too long ago.

Bringing such wonderful changes with them, such positivity, such brightness, that you would feel the urge to smile, just being in their presence.

Venti is the Archon of wind after all, he notices such that many humans do not, can not, see. something so incredibly, unimaginably bright falling from the heavens, above even the land upon which Celestia resides, In a bright golden ray of pure power and light.

The traveler who had once glowed with a determination so strong, so fiercely strong is no longer. The travels upon which they had embarked, that had all been for naught, had caught up to the poor otherworlder.

They were mourning.

Whether said mourning is for a home they no longer live, a sibling they have not seen, a friend long passed, or a fate that was once being denied; Venti doesn’t know.

The blond traveler, one well known for being kind and willing to help, became guarded, unwilling to put a stop to the journey for their sibling any longer.

They would no longer help around Mondstadt anymore, barely stopping by on their travels for anything but food to stock up on.

Everyone missed the blond traveler, who had once upon a time, helped them so immensely, that many solely thank the traveler for freeing them from Dvalin’s sorrowful storms.

The traveler was a sad being, so, so alone in this world without their other half.

Without the other half of their soul.

Venti wishes the traveler all the best on their journey, blessing the blond with his winds, granting them safe travels via the air he controls.

May the wind guide the dear traveler, and bless them on the long journey ahead, so that perhaps one day, they may find their way back home,

May they find their heart, their home, their peace, their sibling.

And so, he thinks, shall the winds bless you, dear star, to guide you on your long, endless journey.

Shall we meet again,” he says, “dearest star born traveler of worlds.”
