Chapter Text
In the dimly lit chambers of Castle Dimitrescu, a mournful silence hung heavy in the air, broken only by the faint echoes of buzzing that echoed through the old corridors. Alcina stood at the window, her gaze fixed upon the moonlit landscape beyond. She would have cried, had she not shed every tear there was to shed.
Beside her stood Daniela after having materialised, her once-vibrant eyes now dull with grief. Her world, once joyful, was now filled with sorrow after the death of her older sister Cassandra, murdered by Ethan not too long ago
"We can’t simply accept her death, Mother," Daniela pleaded, her voice barely a whisper against the stillness of the night. "There must be something we can do to bring her back!”
Alcina turned to face her daughter, her expression a mix of sadness and resignation. "You know as well as I do, Daniela, that the dead cannot be brought back to life," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of sorrow. "To attempt such a thing would be wrong, and could invite consequences far beyond our imagining."
“But you brought us back!” She injected, tears welling in her eyes as a pout settled on her lips. “Right? Kind of..? Why can’t we at least try to fix Cassie? Mother Miranda can help and-!”
“Enough!” She snapped, her voice one of a heartbroken mother, trembling and fragile.
Alcina sighed shortly after, already regretting the choice of tone with her youngest. She turned her gaze, looking down at her little girl as her cold hand came up to cup her cheek. Daniela’s tears glistened in the moonlight.
“My little bug..” She cooned sadly. “I am so sorry.. I have failed you all. Please, forgive me.”
But Daniela would not be deterred. With a determined look in her eyes, she turned to leave the chamber, her mind set on finding a way to defy fate and reunite with her sister once more.
As the door closed behind her, Alcina's gaze lingered on the moonlit landscape beyond, she felt it, deep within her heart, the determination of her youngest daughter. It resigned deep within her, too. Only she did not know a way to save her daughter.
Alcina broke down on her balcony once more, sinking to her knees as her weeping echoed out into the night.
