Summary
Nicole does stand-up after work a lot.
It's a fun hobby and keeps her brain active in spite of the mind numbing hell of the average work day. Basically the only creative outlet she feels okay doing anymore, since the last thing she wanted was to be some lunatic super-star going on tour for comedy. Zero pressure to succeed or excel; just doing it to reach people because at that point it was a compulsion.
On one particular evening, absolutely none of that changes, but she does meet someone. It's hardly 'love at first sight', or anything like that. She's just that easy to talk to, laughs harder than anyone Nicole has ever met, and happens to be the single most gorgeous person she's ever seen.
Even if nothing comes of it, it's still the best night both of them have had in years.
