Chapter Text
Aaron turned to his friends it’s been a long year and he felt so happy to have them through this even Aiden with his ADHD and Tyler with his short temper. He is also glad that they are all on the exy team together it made it easier to plan stuff when they see each other most of the day. Right now they are at their exy game getting ready to play.
“You have a plan for this team right Ashlyn?” Logan said pulling Aaron out of his thoughts.
“What’s the point of having a plan when we know that Aiden won’t follow it? Tyler said rolling his eyes. Tyler was right Adien never follows the plan he acts too impulsively.
“They are a way better team than us so we need a plan and since Ashlyn is the captain she should think about the best way for us to win,” Logan said meekly.
“Here is the plan since we are a tiny team and the freshman we have on the team sucks we will just have to either have them in for the first half or just be us the full game. Everyone looked at each other and all agreed that it would be for the best if they just said in the whole time because the freshmen fucking suck.
The game ended with them barely winning which put them in the finals. Aaron got called into the coach’s office when they were just about to leave.
“You wanted to see me coach?” Aaron asked a little annoyed.
“Yes, there is someone I wanted you to see,” coach Happer said. That made Aaron a bit confused because no one knew of Alto Georgia. He turns to look to see who it is.
“ Hello my name is David Wymack I’m here to recruit you for my team,” Coach Waymack said. His name sounded familiar but he couldn’t place where.
“I’m not interested sorry,” Aaron said he already planned to go to the same college as his friends and he is not going to give that up for anything. He turned to leave but was stopped by Neil Josten. Neil looked at him with shock and muttered something under his breath.
“You haven’t even listened to my whole speech if I flew three people down here to recruit you the least you could do is listen to what I have to say”. Aaron was going to come back to the mysterious third person later.
“You the Palmetto state foxes right? Don’t you only recruit traumatized screw-ups?” Aaron asked with disdain.
“You’re right we do you fit the line so we came to see you play today and decided to sign you. They were getting on Aaron’s nerves how could they think something like that his mother died of an overdose and he now lives with Ashlyn and her parents and he got sent into rehab before he even started high school so that doesn’t make him a screw-up.
“I’m going to stop you right there I don’t care what ess you have to say I’m not going you can shove that paper right up your asshole I don’t care I already know where I’m going for school!” Aaron didn’t mean to lose his temper but he just couldn’t help it. Aaron ran out of the office and saw that his friends were waiting he took a couple of deep berths before going to them.
“Hey, what did the coach want,” Aiden said when he saw him.
“Nothing too important can we head home now I’m tired.” Aaron lied they looked like they didn’t believe him but he just couldn’t tell them he knew that they would tell him to take the apartment but he just couldn’t leave without them they were his family. When they all arrived at Ashlyn and Aaron’s home they sat at the table with their parents talking about how the game went they do this every game all their parents help the Banners cook and set up while the kids are at the game and they hang out and celebrate the game.
This time was different though because while they were at the table eating and talking there was a knock at the door.
“I will get it,” Emma said while getting up as she got to the door and opened it she saw someone who looked almost identical to her adopted son and two others. “Hello, who might you guys be,” She said uncertainly.
“Hello my name is David Wymack the redhead is Neil Josten and the blond is Andrew Minyard we are here looking for Aaron Banner does he live here.”
Emmas gase hard “What do you want with my son,” she said protectively. She has gotten more protective since the phantom world happened.
“We are here to recruit him for Palmetto State foxes,” David said without blinking.
“Really! I always knew my baby was good but I didn’t think a college team of your class would recruit him come in” Emma said switching up almost instantly.
“Aaron why didn’t you tell me a team was trying to recruit you!” Emma said as she walked back into the dining room with the recruiters. Aaron’s face pales as he turns to look at them.
“What are you doing here I already said no!” he said raising his voice a bit but not too much to hurt Ashlyn’s ears.
“Aaron that’s no way to talk to recruiters and anyways why won’t you take it I thought you liked Exy”. Emma said to him confused.
“I do! I like Exy but not enough to give up everything we worked so hard for I’m not going to go to a different college than my family!” Aaron says because he knows that if he doesn’t tell the truth then she will try to convince him to go”
“If that’s the only reason then we can also offer your friends a contract too,” David said surprised.
“What?” Aaron said turning to look at him he didn’t expect that from him.
“Yeah I have done it before and they don’t play too bad and we need a lot of players this year”.
After they all signed the contracts Tyler finally said something that was on everyone’s mind. “Can we talk about the elephant in the room you guys look almost identical and he has your old last name before you changed it to Banner”.
“Yeah did your bio mom ever tell you that you have an identical twin,” Aiden said.
“They are not twins if they were twins then he wouldn’t be in college”. Tyler said to Aiden.
“To answer your question Aiden of course she didn’t the most she would say to be is for me to get her more drugs,” Aaron said with an eye roll. “Who are you, are we related?” Aaron asked with a softer tone. All Andrew gave him was a stiff nod. Aaron frowned at that but it didn’t matter because he already has all the family he needs. After it was all said and done Aaron went to bed that night feeling a little bit relieved.
