   Writing for funsies (and my unholy love of Simcoe), writing a more complicated (sometimes nasty) main character and as a way of fixing some of the less than satisfying narrative surrounding Simcoe's redemption/ romance arc which felt clumsy (starting too late, the weird purpose of lola for one episode half way through the last series, and the unnamed wife they bolted on in passing in the epilogue that apparently solved all this problems)
